ChristyS Posted January 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2019 My husband just told me he booked a cruise using casino credit for my birthday. Unfortunately nobsuites were available so he took a guarantee verandah. I’ve only been on 3 cruises all Neptune suites. Will I really miss much? I’m not about to complain about this gift at all just trying to prepare. The ship is nieuw Amsterdam and the cruise is in October to Caribbean
Randyk47 Posted January 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2019 That’s kind of a hard question to answer not knowing what amenities of a Neptune Suite you liked. Will say we first honeymooned in a Neptune Suite then did two more cruises in one. We took a break from cruising for two years and when we went back we booked a standard veranda. It was okay but we missed the cabin, large veranda, and some of the amenities so we went back to just booking Neptune Suites.
ChristyS Posted January 24, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted January 24, 2019 My problem is most likely I don’t know what I will miss I know space and the concierge lounge Not really worried if I have priority getting on or off ship. My husband likes to let others pass first and doesn’t like to feel rushed
faerievert Posted January 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2019 Perhaps pick a different splurge to make up for the smaller room? Plan to be in the room as little as possible and maybe you won't miss it. I recommend the thermal spa pass, personally. We're big fans of the hydropool & thermal spa 🙂
DaveOKC Posted January 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2019 We generally book Signature and Neptune suites and JUST had a Vista suite (about the size of your veranda cabin I think). While it was a bit of an adjustment, it worked out fine for us and we would book it again.

We've also done verandahs but not recently. In November, we missed having the PG for breakfast so adapted by going to the main dining room. I missed the Neptune Lounge for coffee and snacks but adjusted okay to that 😉 In May the Neptune Lounge concierge was consistently busy with other passengers so we had little benefit from that, and could have just as easily used the Front Desk. Didn't miss the bigger room, don't care about the size of the balcony, no longer need comp'd laundry since hitting 4*. I hope you enjoy the verandah cabin 🙂
CruiserBruce Posted January 24, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2019 There are a few things you may miss. Or not. Only you know...we don't know you. Not sure how we can answer this question.
Tampa Girl Posted January 27, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2019 If it is a short cruise, you probably won't miss it - too much. We are used to NS's and booked a balcony on an 89-day voyage. We quickly sought (and got) an upsell to a NS. We would not have been happy for that length of time in a balcony. The concierge service and size of the cabin for that length of time were the deciding factors for us. But those factors may not apply to you. SeaBands Posted January 27, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2019 the Neptune is 2X the space of a veranda and we occasionally book one but it needs to be a good deal discount. The veranda or vista is fine for most cruises. We would rather have extra cruises than pay for a bigger cabin.
