cruise cash

Cruise cash is one of many ways of funding your Sail and Sign account.

Every charge you make on board is charged to your S&S account.  You can fund it with cash, Carnival gifts cards, Cruise Cash, debit card (lots of reasons not to use a debit card), credit card, or any combination of these methods.

Cruise cash is a way to fund it prior to boarding, but it's nonrefundable so be careful in determining how much to buy.

There's a way to get it back in the casino but someone else will explain that.

If you find you have unspent cruise cash all to you have to do is go to the casino and play a slot machine.  Select the amount of your remaining cruise cash to play slots with and then spin once and cash out to your player bank and then goto the cashier and cash it out.  Done it many times.

I like to use cruise cash.  1) When I have extra cash throughout the year I throw it into cruise cash.  I think you can have up to $500 per trip.  I usually sail with $300 in cruise cash.

Two advantages to Cruise Cash over gift cards are purchasing in smaller denominations ($25 min vs $100), and not risking forgetting/losing the gift cards.  I think it is also automatically loaded to your account, while you have to visit guest services or a kiosk to load the gift cards.

Two negatives are they are not discounted like AARP (or gas rewards if gift cards from certain grocers) and they are non-refundable (I think if you don't take the associated cruise it is refundable though, similar to Cheers, gratuities, or shore excursions).  Gift cards are refundable to another Carnival gift card.

THANK YOU! I booked the 4-night cruise Sydney-Moreton Island-Sydney 11-26-2020 on the Carnival Splendor yesterday. Sailing in an Obstructed Oceanview Spa Stateroom, and counting the days!

This information gives me information about budgeting for the cruise-plan to get the Bottomless Bubbles and put money into Cruise Cash to allow for souvenir purchases, if I can find a Carnival Teddy Bear or 2!

Congratulations!

Please be sure to read all the fine print since sometimes policies vary from US based cruises (which I think are the majority of the posters here) and AU or other countries.

If you can't find a teddy bear you like, there might be a duck game in the arcade that lets you play until you win.  I think it's around $1USD per play (based on memory of others experiences) and they sometimes have power hours where games are buy one get one free.

Have a great cruise!

I just bought cruise cash USING my discounted All-State gift cards! So I can get the discount AND still be able to cash in my cruise cash at the end of the cruise if we have any left over. Win-win!

We have bought cruise cash if AARP gift cards. I do worry about misplacing physical gift cards  but I have never lost any others cards. I did prefer the e-card but AARP no longer does these.

When buying Cruise Cash on the Carnival site, do you receive a physical card/voucher that you have to then load onto your S&S account?  Or is it automatically added to your account and ready to go before boarding?  When I was going through the checkout process the system asked when I wanted it delivered to the cabin.

Cruise Cash is added to you S&S account as soon as you buy it. I buy it with all the leftover discounted gift cards that we acquire over the year so I don't have to use them at customer service or check in. Then if we have left over we transfer it to a casino account, play slots a bit, then cash out.
