Rare trbarton Posted March 10, 2019 #30 Share Posted March 10, 2019 9 hours ago, Dani24 said: Based on what he wrote, it looks like the following is being done: “New tv’s getting installed to all staterooms, plus wall tv’s to be installed along deck 7”. He also said in another post: “new tv’s, including on-demand tv, however I am not sure when the on-demand system will be activated. Hopefully within the next month or so...” “Hanging out with Clean Air today. They go around to cabins and suck out all the dust that has accumulated in the air vents in the bathrooms, plus they clean the public vents too. They only have enough time to do 1/3 of the ship in each dry dock. To finish an entire ship generally takes around 10 years.” He also mentions that they did tha back third last time, and this time they’re doing the front third. “New frames for the jacuzzi’s are being installed” “Stripping back the paint” on at least the lower portion of the outside of the ship “New carpet going into the theatre” “New sound system in princess theatre, the speakers currently installed are the original speakers (installed 1998 - or so I have been told)” “Ocean Medallion, but again, won’t be activated for a while until they get it up and running on the newer ships” If you look at what I posted on post #14 you will see a detailed list. Gimer will hopefully post before & after photos as he took photos of the areas they’re working on while in Dry Dock. Tom😎

Interestingly most of the things “Martin Cruise” posted on Facebook were in addition to what you had posted earlier. They’re definitely packing a lot into 15 days. Hopefully she’ll still be in nice shape for our cruise in July!
Gimer Posted March 10, 2019 #32 Share Posted March 10, 2019 FYI, "Martin Cruise" is one of the Assistant Cruise Director, who got on board Grand on January 27, 2019. In some of the other photos, there are the other Assistant Cruise Directors who are Vicky (China), Emma (England), Roo (Scotland) and Gonsalves, not sure where he is from. Martin will be a great Cruise Director. He's got it all.
jondfk Posted March 10, 2019 #33 Share Posted March 10, 2019 Wow, it's hard from those photo's that I was on Grand just 1 week ago this morning! And I thought she looked not so bad for an 'old' girl. She's gonna be all new at the end of this process by the looks of things.

boltnut55 Posted March 16, 2019 #44 Share Posted March 16, 2019 Our family will be on the Grand on 3/20. Glad to see that some of the improvements will be visible to us as I thought they were only just equipment related. EXCITED!!!

Dani24 Posted March 18, 2019 #46 Share Posted March 18, 2019 (edited) These are the last of the updates from Facebook. It looks like the work is wrapping up. I would imagine the ship will be heading out very soon to San Francisco. Photos and quotes attributed to Martin Cruise"They are getting a coat of paint to match the railings" "Lifts getting installed in all previously non accessible areas of the ship for people with mobility difficulties 🙂 this one goes to the putting green, others go up to the tanning level" Finishing up the new spas "New carpet in the dining rooms 🙂 the cut out piece is the old stuff." "New seats in crooners" and "new carpet too" Edited March 18, 2019 by Dani24
Dani24 Posted March 18, 2019 #47 Share Posted March 18, 2019 Photos and quotes attributed to Martin Cruise New couch vs old couch 😀 outside explorers "Water is back, paint work is done, we are nearly ready for you!" "Tv’s in the stairways are online 😀 that little circle thing on the side is where you touch your medallion to bring up all your info/photos/other exciting things 🙂 but medallion has not yet been activated, so for now, they just look pretty" "Nice new drink stations in the buffet are nearly finished" "Elevators getting a sleek new varnish 😀 (guest elevators)" Ocean Medallion screens are "up" but not yet active (Ocean Medallion wont go live on the Grand for another year or two) "They are making this door nice and secure this time 😂" (this is the door that got stuck open while crossing the Pacific to Hawaii)

FritzG Posted March 20, 2019 #49 Share Posted March 20, 2019 We’re boarding tomorrow. We were planning to go to the port a bit later than we usually do, but if she’s that close we will go around 10 am. I wish they’d turn the webcam back on.
