Refresh my memory -- Edge/Luminae/Restrooms nearby?

No, there are no restrooms close to Luminae on Edge (a definite design flaw in my eyes!)  You have to go up a deck and use the rest rooms near the Solarium Pool.  Now, supposedly, there is one handicapped bathroom somewhere inside Luminae but  I don't know exactly where it was.  We were told in January that the door to that restroom was broken and nobody could use it.

There is a bathroom in Luminae on the right as you go in (in a little hallway). I got the story on the Jan 20 cruise. They have one of the bathrooms with an electronic door (seen throughout the ship and a poor design, IMO - I did not like them).  A poor guest went in there on one of the early Press and Trade cruises and couldn't open the door. She was reportedly trapped in there for 40 minutes and they had to break or remove the door frame to get her out. It still had not been repaired by the time we cruised in Jan. The Luminae person who told me the story said that the bathroom was usable, but wouldn't lock - she said I was welcome to use it. It was good to know it would be there - the DH could be a door guard. 🙂  They may have fixed it by now, as someone who had been on a recent cruise mentioned the Luminae bathroom.

The location was pointed out to me - I think it was this was the area.

On a Solstice class ship, my husband was locked in the same type bathroom for a few minutes before another passenger heard him yell out. :classic_biggrin: It was in the Sunset Bar area... up on top.  The door could be opened from the outside, but the opening mechanism was jammed on the inside.  He said he would never use that type of bathroom again.  And then we sailed on the Edge. :classic_rolleyes: We tried to avoid the public restrooms on that cruise.  They are not in the most convenient locations, and are VERY open to the public walk areas.

Yes, there is a bathroom in Luminae.  I went to use it one evening and a male passenger came out and said "I wouldn't suggest you go in there.  Someone made a mess"  He went to report it and I went to another bathroom. (up one deck, I think)  We met a passenger in the casino bar who got locked in one of the public bathrooms.  She was sitting at the bar with the bathroom handle!  And wasn't giving it back. Not a happy camper.  She was locked in there for a while before someone finally came to help.  I think it was a single restroom. The employee she talked to said: "we'll have a meeting about it tomorrow".   Most of the public restrooms with numerous stalls were staffed with someone constantly cleaning up.  (on the Edge)

After hearing the trapped for 40 minutes in the Luminae loo story, I avoided those electronic door bathrooms on the Edge (I had forgotten about the S Class ones near Sunset Bar). I have claustrophobia and if stuck that long, I probably would have done am Incredible Hulk type escape.  😉  I would bet that those won't be on the Apex!

DH and I were both caught in a bank ATM because of those electronic doors when we were in Rome.  Our tour guide had dropped us off to get more cash before taking us back to our hotel.  When he noticed that we were taking an extra long time to get our money, he was worried and came looking for us. 😲

Glad he went looking for you! 🙂
