iflyrc5 Posted March 9, 2019 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2019 Thanks for the updates. I am surprised that the Rotterdam is not scheduled for 2019 as I thought they normally did dry docks every 2 years.

southendcruiser Posted March 9, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 9, 2019 Does anyone have an idea how long it takes HAL to cancel a cruise after a charter? I am booked on one of the cruises updated on this thread (Volendam 23-29 April 2020). I confirmed the charter with the chartering organization and then called HAL to check. They claimed the booking is still valid and are still booking it on their website. The best alternative is filling fast but I do not want to switch the booking until I get a move-over. I realize charters may fall through so cruise lines want to hedge their bets, but it seems they should be considerate of their customers and offer alternatives if they do have a charter agreement in place. Thanks for sharing your experience on this and also thanks to VMax1700 for all the work on this thread.

I don’t know but can share my experience. I was booked on a Volendam Asia itinerary which would go in Feb. & March. We got notification in April/May (I was cruising so it’s a bit of a blur) of the year prior that we were cancelled due to the charter and offered some decent OBC if we did a cruise of the same length and booked by x date. Since I was cruising my TA got the date extended for me 😉 So it was about 10 months For us.

The size of the group will possibly impact dining room availability and use of other locations on the ship including the showroom. I have been on several cruises where there was no impact at all. If it is a theme cruise it will more likely cause an impact. You can google the group, ship, and date and get an idea of how impactful it might be. HAL has a lot of Road Scholar groups on their ships, they are a small group and will use a meeting room for classes...no impact on the rest of the cruisers. MeandtheSea Posted July 9, 2019 #18 Share Posted July 9, 2019 (edited) Hello, all. Does anyone know which groups are booked on my upcoming Sept 8-15, 2019 Norway cruise on Holland America’s Nieuw Statendam? I’ve read on the roll call that there are 2 different groups booked- group of 177 and 116. I don’t think groups of that size will have much impact other than dining. At least that is my hope. How can I find out about the groups? I don’t see them listed here. Thank you all. Edited July 9, 2019 by MeandtheSea

Maybe one of the "groups" you mention, but I do not think those passengers will see themselves as a real group but more as individual Musical lovers (??).
