The docking could have interferred with the world cruise & that is why Island is doing it. What does 2019 have to do with late 2020 early 2021? Must be a long survey since the Island is doing the world cruise in 2021
RDC1 Posted March 23, 2019 #30 Share Posted March 23, 2019 (edited) Check out this link. I think it tells the story. Or can anyone think of another 670 passenger cruise ship with Princess logo and that has a Sabatini's restaurant. http://cruiseship.homestead.com/1999_Cruise_Vessel.pdf It can be yours for $100 million. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted March 23, 2019 #31 Share Posted March 23, 2019 So what is so terrible about the Island? We are booked on a 25 day cruise in Jan 2020 in a VS from Miami to Santiago with a stop in Easter Island. Please keep in mind we have never sailed on the Island before so we have no memories of what it used to look like.

Since this is a thread on the Pacific better to discuss this elsewhere or it will go poof. Miami?

They removed the rear lounge area on Deck 7 and replaced it with a number of additional cabins. They moved the gym down into the middle of that area in a closed in room with no windows. When they added the cabins they removed the viewing areas along the back that was a prime characteristic of that class.

That info and the pictures are outdated. The ship was renovated in 2017. The pictures would look different if it was advertised after that timeframe. They are often up for sale for years and are often available even when cruises are scheduled. So just because it is up there doesn't mean anything really. If it did there would be threads about Sun, Pacific, Sea and all those ships being sold every week. Just because it's up for sale doesn't really mean anything. Not really. Australia has 1 * 2000 whereas Europe and America have multiple ships some even larger than the Sun Class doing world cruises. It's really only because they have a monopoly on them from Australia. No other company does one from here.
SeaDog-46 Posted March 23, 2019 #41 Share Posted March 23, 2019 A cruise ship drydocking - is not for just a lick of paint on the bottom & new carpets that some on here think. Pre docking inspections & surveys from insurers can often throw up more urgent work that will have to be done in the near future to keep the ship seaworthy. This will then bring in the bean counters on what to do - spend extra money or sell. As others have said - the older ships are often listed for sale by ship brokers in the hope they can get a sale - but it has to be at the right price for the owners to sell. The recent sale of Pacific Jewel ex Crown Princess ex Sitmar, to an Indian buyer was not expected but was no doubt listed by a broker.

Colo Cruiser Posted March 23, 2019 #43 Share Posted March 23, 2019 I agree she most likely will never be on the market. Just sold to another cruise line.

And since Oceana already purchased R4/Ocean Princess in the past I'd say the price the two parties would agree too is also no great mystery.
