Have just seen this. As I have said on another forum, it puts concerns about some the relatively minor things we worry about into perspective

Wow, queuing for shuttle buses to Amsterdam seems relatively minor in comparison, but I do feel sorry for all the passengers affected.

Have just been reading the Viking board and I think our fellow CC members need our support today. There is someone on the ship at the minute saying how calm it all is and how professional the staff are being.

We saw Viking Sky in Alta a few days ago (we have just got back from Norway today on Aurora). We had 24 hours of very rough seas on the way to Stavanger. Only around force 8 but the ship was lurching around more than when we have been on her in force 10 and 11. Hope that it’s better now as Helivac in those conditions would be challenging to say the least. Nightmare situation, especially now it’s night time. Thoughts with all those on board. Must be terrifying.

I know a lot of the guys on the SAr helicopter down here in Devon.  I would be totally comfortable being rescued by one of them.  They are amazing.

sometimes you can have horrendous seas in only a Force 8, and reasonable seas in a Force 11.  Just depends what happend in the previous 48 hours.

Sky News just reported (2230) that only 110 passengers have been airlifted off the ship. A great achievement but that means that over 1,000 are still on board (plus all the crew). The clip (from onboard) shows the ship rolling badly and furniture flying backwards across the floor, plus ceiling panels falling on passengers whilst others just sit there (probably unable to move) and, of course, one feels the need to film it! Just horrendous. It doesn’t look life threatening (thank goodness) but must be hell on Earth for those on board.

Comments elsewhere suggest she is now underway with her own engine power, so hopefully the Captain should be able to minimise the ships movement, as long as her speed is enough to give the stabilisers the lift needed to reduce her rolling.

Thank goodness. The clip being shown on Sky was in daylight, so clearly some hours ago.

There still seems to be about a 1,000 passengers and crew on board....

Some engines have been restarted, but they are still asking for assistance to get in to port.

It seems she is anchored at the moment.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved and hope they all get home safely.

Glad to hear that things are under control. Safe journey home to port.

Docked in Molde, very emotional arrival with 100’s lining the streets and quayside, flag waving and cheering, whilst never feeling in danger we are glad to be on terra firma

Thanks for keeping us all updated and apologies again for any misunderstanding this morning on the Viking thread.

Glad you are all home safe and I hope that any passengers that have already been taken to hospital make a good recovery.

Back home now, flew out around 01.00 last night from Molde on a Viking charter to Gatwick, option of hotel and travel home later today or a taxi home there and then, we came home. Viking will meet the costs to get everyone to their final destination, met a couple who will have a private car later today to Cumbria.

No need for further appologies, noted and happily accepted on the Viking board.

If people are interested the compensation offered by Viking has been detailed correctly there

Must have been lovely to receive a warm welcome from the locals, a bit of comfort after quite a period of discomfort.  Many of us here in Cruise Critic world echo that welcome in virtual fashion. We followed your status as best we could while hoping for the best possible outcome.

The simple answer is yes, but as one starts to process the last couple of days you start to realise that it could have been much worse, we have been lucky, as I have said elsewhere I will defend the Captain and crew to my  last breath
