kuddles14 Posted March 25, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2019 We will be in Mykonos for one day the end of September on the Jewel of the Seas. Any suggestions for excursions? Or, is it better just to walk around. We have never been to Mykonos and the excursions through the ship seem to be limited. Any suggestions for the day would be greatly appreciated. CruiserBruce Posted March 25, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2019 Not sure why you didn't look on the Greece board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/463-greece-ports/ Many discussions and ideas there.
Rare Hlitner Posted March 29, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2019 I will post a short answer here :). If you are interested in Greek ruins then you can take a tour to Delos. Otherwise, we see Mykonos as primarily a beach day with additional time spent in Mykonos Town for shopping/browsing and enjoying some food/drink at one of the harbor restaurant/cafes. To get to the beach we generally use the islands bus system and head over to Paradise Beach (from where we have sometimes taken a water taxi over to Super Paradise). Bowler Lady Posted April 2, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2019 When we went to Mykonos we had a lovely day just walking through town, having a bite at one of the ocean front cafes and visiting the wind mills.
sofietucker Posted April 21, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2019 I second Delos! Have been there twice & still want to go back and see more! There's also an excursion that can take you both there and to a beach on a deserted island. But walking around the labyrinthine streets of Mykonos is wonderful too. Go deeper in and "get lost" if you have time.Try to get to the very top of town for a great view of the harbor (there's a church and a defunct big home near the plaza wall). wheezedr Posted April 23, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 23, 2019 We walked through town, got lost as you are expected to do and then hopped a local bus to the beach for the afternoon. Lovely day, no need for an organized excursion

BarbinMich Posted May 2, 2019 #9 Share Posted May 2, 2019 Good advice from prior posters. I, too, enjoyed walking around on my own--such a photogenic place! Also, the first time I had ouzo--at a lovely outdoor cafe.
