Post cruise day in Galveston/Houston with toddlers

Hello,

 

I will be disembarking in Galveston on a Sunday morning with my wife and twin 4 year olds and we are looking for ideas to fill the day. Our flight isn't until 7:25 PM. That leaves us roughly 8 hours to fill. Curious if anyone has suggestions for Galveston or Houston area?

 

Oh, and we will have luggage 😂

Also, a second question, are you flying out of HOU (Hobby) or IAH (Intercontinental)? If Hobby, that is much closer to Galveston, then I'd suggest staying in Galveston and doing the various things at Moody Gardens. If you are going to Intercontinental, the Children's Museum in the Museum District would be a good choice. Renting a car may be a more economical choice than Uber as both airports aren't all that close to Galveston - Hobby about 40 miles and Intercontinental about 70 miles.
