Well, I am feeling better about keeping my $9.44 a share stock now. 🙂

I purchased my 100 shares at $16.  When it tanked to $5, my wife said we should buy more.  I poo-pooed the idea -- what the hell does she know.  :classic_dry:🍷

Its still a god buy at this level if you are a long term investor.

With a five years horizon. It pays Div. of $0.70 a share.

Sent in all my paperwork, my proof that I own RCCL stock. Just receive an email stating that I will not receive any OBC.  Typical RCCL.

What cruise are you on, and when did you book it.  If you booked it before 1 June 2019, then you are SOL.  🍷

I submitted a request for an upcoming cruise which was booked a year ago, expecting to be turned down, but thought it was worth a shot.  It took a week for the denial to arrive.

"Thank you for your email. As a valued shareholder, you are very important to us. The requested shareholder benefit onboard credit cannot be applied to reservation xxxxxxx as it is not combinable with the offer, GOBETTER BEVWIFI, listed on your reservation."

It will be interesting to see whether the rejections continue for cruises booked after June 1 that also provide one or two perks as part of the fare.  Since the rejection was not tied to a booking date, I am a little confused about the supposed change in policy.  Is the granting of OBC going to depend on the knowledge  (or lack thereof) of the staff person reviewing your submission??

I found the NEW Shareholder Benefit letter on the RCCL website. and am sharing here as it provides all of the details.

I don't agree with the explanation I was given when my request was rejected since the included perks shouldn't be the reason it was rejected.

I submitted OBC request for two upcoming cruises...success for one and denial for the other.  Both cruises were booked in 2018.  I'm a $100 OBC happy camper.

Did you receive any perks (i.e. GOBIG, GOBETTER) for the cruise that you received the Shareholder Benefit?

Yes, I did get free gratuity perk for GoBig.  Apparently, OBC is no longer a perk so I chose the free gratuities.

Its funny the new t&c don't mention anything about bookings before June 1, 2019.  Do we think that all new bookings will be allowed to combine shareholder credit with other perks.  It appears people submitting older bookings are getting denied based on the old rules.

They put a start date on this new policy for booking future cruises.  Can you imagine if they did it for all bookings?  I have 10 cruises booked, and only 2 after the begin date of 1 June 2019.  🍷

doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason here...normal for Celebrity....

I don't understand your post --  they didn't have it before, re: combining.   Now they are bringing combining back, and needed a date to start with.   It would be pure chaos if they applied it to all the cruises booked before 1 June.  I applaud them for bringing it back.    Works for both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean.

If you have cruises you booked before 1 June, cancel them and rebook if the shareholder OBC works for you.  🍷

My TA told me my booking is not eligible for Shareholder Benefit even I booked after June1st.

Anyway I gave it a try. Will let you know if t get approved.

What was the reason your TA gave you for your booking  not eligible for Shareholder Benefit?  Did you get a TA rate?    Maybe your TA doesn't know the new policy.  Mine didn't.  I had to send it to her.  🍷

not sure why I need to explain my post...but here goes nothing..

I dont see any consistency here with what RCI is doing, some get it having booked before June 1, some after ...some denied having booked before June 1, some after.

In the past , we have gotten some and were refused for most, again could not figure out why.

Now we dont   have any new bookings with Celebrity anymore but still have two bookings that we have not cancelled. Good itineraries and going with NO expectations for the food.

For the shareholders credit, does anyone  see any pattern in the posts here why some have gotten and others not ?

Seems like just a haphazard luck of the draw.

Can anyone clarify it and show which posts here got the Credit that followed the rules set out by RCI?

I have my first X cruise booked (booked last week) but it isn't until March 2020.  I've owned RCL stock for a few years but haven't sailed Royal in that time.  I'd read for a few years that if you book any fare that has a discount/perks, you'll be denied the SH OBC.

I've owned CCL for years and have received many hundreds of $$s in OBC over the past 9 years. Carnival gives the OBC even for free casino offers!  HAL denied one when I was on a deeply discounted fare.  I've never sent my SH info to them until about a month prior to sailing.  The logic is that you're supposed to own the stock when you sail, not just when you book.

So, can I send in proof of ownership of RCL this far in advance?  Would be nice to see if I qualify since I booked at a very good price with great perks.  More OBC would make it even better!

You don't know all the details of why it was approved prior to 1 June 2019 and why it was not.  A person could have booked a cruise on 1 May 2019 with an inside cabin and no perks.  They would be eligible for the Shareholder Benefits.   🍷
