Shore Excursioneer

Recommended Posts

If you look on the Ports boards, there are MANY threads discussing them, and other brokers. That is what they are, tour brokers. They take your money, and book with a local, low bid vendor.

The plus- low prices. The minus- hard to contact if there is any issue- a problem we had. English skills can be limited. Some times a "private transfer" becomes a shared transfer, with delays.

As a result, many of us prefer to deal direct with local providers.

I've used them and various other independent tour/excursion operators in the Caribbean.  Never had a significant issue although the wait times getting started were sometimes long, especially if guests were coming from different cruise ships.  For a long tour ( 7 hours or so) like visiting Xanantunich from Belize or Tulum from Cozumel, we did ship tours not wanting to be delayed and possibly stranded.

In Europe and Alaska we generally stuck to ship tours. On Australia and New Zealand land vacations, we let our travel agent pick the tour operators.

We just used them on our Med/Greece stop in Cannes on a Sunday May 19th during the film festival. We booked with some from our rollcall and ended up with just 5 in our tour bus. We visited St Paul de Vence & Antibes. I would highly recommend this company for this port as we had an amazing tour and driver.

Thank you for your responses. Has anyone used them for Belize for the Manatee and Mangrove River Tour as that port uses tenders and concerned that by using a non-ship tour we might not get on first tender and they would not wait since we could not call them on our cells?

Most tour providers certainly are aware of the process and will usually wait...but it's your responsibility to know the time frame and do your best to tender as quickly as you can.

My concern is that if they are in a group tour, with people joining from resorts or elsewhere, the start time is probably going to be a lot less flexible.

If it is a private tour just for the OP, then you are right...the tour provider will generally wait.
