What makes Breeze so special?

I have been on numerous carnival ships, the last one in May was the Breeze.  I hated her the most!  I did not go during spring recess or college recess or Memorial Day.  We found her to be the most crowded feeling ship ever, next to the NCL Breakaway.

This was my experience as well. I liked the ship itself but I've never felt that crowded on a cruise.

Just one more thing; if you are looking for the 'wow" factor upon walking on to the ship, it's not there as far  as the decor goes. The "wow" is more the many places where you can position yourself  on the ship and almost feel as though you are part of the ocean. [okay, that might just be an Autistic thing, but I hope not, because it is truly a remarkable feeling]

Been on the Breeze, Vista and Horizon. Actually, I give a slight edge toner Vista and Horizon. The latter 2 have the infra red sauna. The Breeze does not. One thing going for the Breeze? The ginormous thalassatherapy whirlpool. It hwr its owb seperate ara. The Thalassathherapy pool on Vista and Horizon is half the size of the Breeze. An observation on the Breeze; I sailed her when she was new in 2015. My cabin was on the hot stuffy side. Whereas my Vista and Horizon cabins got nice and cool. Not that I'm into decorating, the Breeze reminded me of a holiday inn in NewnJersy. The MDR seemed bland and the 70's earth tone elevators seemed tight and looked tired. Tan/earthtones can do that. However Id not hesitate and saul the Breeze again.

To us, the Breeze will always be special, because we had to cancel our booking when she needed surgery.  After she got a clean bill of health we rebooked it for the following year and enjoyed every single minute.

I will be sailing on the Breeze in September for the second time.  Carnival's Dream class ships are my favorite.  My husband prefers this size ship too.  I didn't like the Vista, which was my least favorite ship.  I have no idea what they were thinking when they designed the Vista theater.  I am really looking forward to sailing on the Breeze soon.

We have sailed both the Dream and the Breeze and for whatever inexplicable reason prefer the Breeze (I honestly could not tell you any difference between them.)
Of course, the main thing we loved about them both is gone (Tandoor).

That being said, we sailed Vista in January and while we didn't hate the ship, it definitely felt more cramped and less "awe inspiring" than the Breeze.
The oft-mentioned atrium was kind of disappointing, especially since that electronic funnel had a few pixels out.
Same thing with the display over the pool. Hard to enjoy the Dive-In movies when there are a number of either dead pixels or tiles that were a different brightness and contrast.

We saw "Glass" at the Imax.
The sound and screen quality were decent, but the seats were uncomfortable and already felt like they were starting to break down.
I also didn't like that after paying for the ticket, I had to pay extra for popcorn (when it is free for the dive-in movies).
Don't mind paying for candy and soda (I had BB, so I didn't have to pay) but for the price of the ticket popcorn should be included.

On the Breeze and Dream we watched the latin band play most nights. They were stationed over by Alchemy which opened up to the main walkway of the ship so it felt nice and open. However the dance floor was well defined and out of the way of any pedestrians.
Vista has the latin band in the Havana Club at the back of the ship (positioned over the MDR) and it is in a corridor that felt kind of narrow. The bandstand is in the middle of the walkway, facing a bar on the back wall that leads out to the Havana area.
It was kind of awkward, especially since the dance floor was right in the middle pedestrian walkway.
We still went several nights, but it just felt uncomfortable trying to listen with people walking right through the experience.

On a positive note, you do NOT have to walk through the casino to get anywhere on the Vista. It is pretty self contained and the smoke didn't drift out. However when we went for afternoon tea, the smoke was wafting into that corner of the MDR. Not sure if it was a ventilation problem or if that is standard.
Also the MDR felt more confined and seemed poorly laid out. Definitely missed the upper and lower effect you get on the Dream class.

One thing I can't comment on is the feel of the rooms, since we booked a suite on the Vista where we normally only get a balcony. The suites are so much more spacious than the standard balcony cabin.
We sail the Vista again in Oct. (it had the itinerary we wanted, since we are going with our cruisin buddies) so we will see how it is since we have a balcony this time.

But all that being said, we didn't "hate" the Vista and if it had been our first ship with nothing to compare it to, we would have still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Oh, one other thing we did like is that on the Vista, the Serenity area for adults has a salad bar open during lunch. That makes it nice to not have to go all the way to the buffet or MDR and interrupt your relaxing!

Well...

As @Saint Greg would say, the comedy club is situated in the right spot and people don't walk through the lounge to get tot dinner like on the Sunshine.

I have been on the Sunshine and I didn't notice the lounge issue, what lounge are you talking about?

We will be sailing the Breeze next month for the second time.  We have sailed on the Sunshine twice and Magic on inaugural 12 night Med cruise.    We love Carnival in General and looking to get back on board soon 🙂

Red Frog Pub does it for me,   Cheers

We have cruised on the Breeze several times and it’s sister ship the Magic several times too.

We cruise again on the Breeze on August 3rd.

we love it because it’s not too small and not too big.

There is something for everyone and the layout is really good.

The decor is beautiful done in neutral shades.

We just really like it. I think you will too!

I think the reason Vista is not well received is that Carnival is making the mistake of using the same ship design, but smashing more and more in to it. Vista and Dream are the same size ship.

If you are intent on sailing Carnival, then it seems Dream class is the best that they have. It's not saying much, as other lines have better ships. But for the money (assuming Carnival much cheaper), dream class is still a really nice ship.

I have also sailed conquest class and the dream class is a clear upgrade. Still very similar but better. Too bad they screwed up Vista.  You would think they would learn from NCL. Their plus class is still a similar design, but quite a bit larger and works better.

Actually the Vista is bigger than the Dream, tonnage-wise.

128k vs 133k.  You are splitting hairs. They are essentially the same size ship. And Dream is the smallest of the class, Breeze is 130k vs Vista at 133k.  Same size.

I realize the marketing is compelling and people think "latest and greatest, bigger mega ship" but the reality is that Carnival just keeps recycling the same tired ship.

I actually prefer the Spirit class ships, way smaller, but we're on the Panorama because it'll be at the port closest to us.  A cruise is a cruise.

I couldn't disagree more.  But I know many people feel that way.  Personally, I have certain expectations of a cruise and pick my ships and itineraries accordingly.
