More to come as Fernando and Norman along with other key staff have a call with Monaco tonight.

Thanks a bundle DCC for the update.  Considering no new passengers or lecturers will be allowed to board, coupled with minimal crew changes, over the next 2-1/2 months, you all are probably in the safest place to be; on board the Whisper.

While I don’t see how any competent network planner could possibly believe ship operations are going to be able to execute the revised itinerary, I guess as long as they can keep the ship fueled and provisioned, and passengers are comfortable sailing for potentially weeks on end at sea due to canceled ports of call. then it may just be best to carry-on and collect the 15% FCC.  Otherwise, you disembark upon reaching Perth for a 40% cash refund or what amounts to a 50% FCC.

Has there been any news after they collected WCers decision cards?  I’m curious how many wish to continue on.

It’s only 7 AM here, so no news yet today.  We expect to hear later today.  Some WCers are disembarking in Sydney and getting credit for the additional number of unused days.  Some WCers have a significant amount of unused SBC and have inquired if SS could roll over some or all to a future cruise.

Brisbane has been cancelled and we are proceeding to Sydney.  All guests will disembark on 3/20 as the Rest of the WC has been cancelled.  All NZ ports have been closed, some African ports are closing and Spain has initiated a country wide lockdown.  At least it is much easier to get home from Sydney.

So very sorry that your adventure is ending on this note DCC!  Safe travels home!  Best wishes and hope we meet again!

They did say bespoke arrangements for Australians...

They may debark them and then send you away...

Highly unlikely they will let everyone off 😞

That’s my biggest fear.  They’ll only allow the Australians to disembark and to head to self isolation for 14-days, while keeping all other foreign nationals on board the ship and sending them away.

The folks on the Spirit seem to be in exceptionally good spirits, but I too worry about the fate foreign nationals may experience upon arrival in Darwin.

Lets hope they go   "Oh you guys have been afloat on a boat for 12 days and all clear"...  lets put you in dock isolation 2 days then release.

You will be in more risk flying home than the risk you bring in :(

Amen to that!

You should have seen the pictures today from Chicago’s O’Hare airport where thousands of Americans are arriving from all over the world.  Check out the pics and video in this link and see the risk first hand in a line 4-hours long;https://wgntv.com/news/coronavirus/photos-long-lines-greet-passengers-at-ohare-during-travel-ban/

Captain just announced the news about the port closure and said they have applied for an exception/waiver and expect to arrive on the 17th as planned but later than anticipated due to heavy traffic in the port.  Also port agent stated independent travelers should not book flight before the 19th.  Very promising.

Had dinner with the Captain last night in La Terrazza at Italian Family night. He indicated that the PM has granted an exception, although we may get in later than originally planned.  Guests making their own flight arrangements should book a flight before the afternoon of the 19th.  More to come

Captain announced this morning we are cleared for Sydney tomorrow.  Not sure of the time due to port congestion.  No noon update.  We are going full speed at nearly 19 knots.  Angry seas with huge waves.  WCers awaiting flight details, hopefully NLT 3/19.  WCers with lots of SBC have flooded the shops on deck 5.

Would love to come down and wave hello

I'll send virtual instead

Need to put out bushfires on the work front

Stumblefoot - where did you read that?

Captain announced last night that we should be anchored in Sydney harbor around 1 PM today.   We will be anchored for 36 hours before moving to White Bay in the wee hours of the 19th.  No tendering as no one is permitted ashore.
