Andy625 Posted July 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2019 I have inherited a few items of QE2 memorabilia from my parents cruises on the ship in the 1990's. There are a quantity of daily cruise planners, menus, a notebook, keyring and badge. Before I donate these to a charity shop or recycle, I was wondering if they'd be of interest to anyone on this forum?
qe2postcards Posted July 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2019 Hi A hard question to answer. A year ago people were still after anything QE2. I am not sure that a charity shop is the answer but one I use myself rather than just throw away. Myself I am a QE2 fan and collector who sailed on her for 18 years. If you have the time you could try and sell them on ebay, I would like some of it and would be prepared to pay for them as I am sure there are still many follows of the QE2 out there. It will be interesting to see advice from others. QE2postcards
Bell Boy Posted July 22, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2019 (edited) OH ! Andrew ,can't you just stick them in the loft and forget about them ......Throwing them away or offering them to a charity shop isn't the way. Have you any young family members ( children/grand children etc) who you could pass them onto . In years to come, just like those Cunard/white Star ships of yesteryear folks will be interested in them . ivanidea Posted July 22, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2019 I don't think a charity shop would appreciate the potential value of the memorabilia. I think eBay would be the best place to list it. Not sure if you are allowed to post eBay links here though, but as long as you have a good title and description of the items, I'm sure they will appear in the searches. Andy625 Posted July 22, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted July 22, 2019 I can't afford the space to store them, and need to get the house cleared out. Happy to give them away if someone wants them. (I'm in the UK btw)

BklynBoy8 Posted July 22, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 22, 2019 Unfortunately we have several boxes of these types of keepsakes from the QE2 & QM2. We enjoy taking them out before a sailing to bring back memories. We would never think of giving them away and let those in the future that will make a decision to care for them after our departure. I can't tell you what memories programmes, menus, those rare menu covers, handouts, items left for us in our cabin etc.... bring back those sailings. I can even remember when these items were handed to us. Yes, we have not intentions to separate these memories at this time.
qe2postcards Posted July 22, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 22, 2019 I would also like them but if it is a large amount it is awkward to post them. Unfortunately I am not in Southampton until October. Vince
Andy625 Posted July 22, 2019 Author #9 Share Posted July 22, 2019 It looks like I might have to put some names in a hat! Posting outside the UK, or even inside the UK will probably be quite pricey, but if the recipient would be willing to reimburse me, that would be ok. Hi Andy If you box them up and let me know the dimensions and weight by email (web@arcnet.email) I will email you a prepaid posting label for you to affix to the package and drop off at your local Post Office. I bought my partner a set of cufflinks made from one of the old Queen Mary's propellers. Ebay is great for memorabilia and very popular with collectors. Good Luck. I'm sure you will find a buyer. I have got lots of items from then … Keyrings .. Business card holders.. Compact mirrors etc etc …. but I would never dream of getting rid of them .. they hold lots of memories of great holidays … and do not take up any room when stored away in a box for my children to do with as they like in the future … plus when I travel on the QM2 next year (May and Dec) then I shall start collecting again 😉 looking forward to it 🙂

majortom10 Posted July 26, 2019 #15 Share Posted July 26, 2019 Think you might find the easiest and most fairest way is by putting the items on ebay.
