Question about water and ice at the bars

When I was  on HOTS two weeks ago,  I saw quite a few people with insulated tumblers getting ice and water in their tumbler.  Is this a refreshment package thing or can anyone utilize the bars for this?

You don't need a rfid'd tumbler to get water or Ice from the Freestyle machines we topped 2 normal glasses up with Ice and water every evening

You can always get ice and water in any restaurant or bar. Should not fill tumbler directly from the spigot, though -- fill RC-provided cups, and dump those into the water bottle for sanitary reasons.

You could also try to purchase the Deluxe Beverage Package on board -- many reports here of people being able to purchase just one. Wouldn't be the lower price you'd get online, but still cheaper than paying for two if one won't be used!

That would be fabulous if it was true, would be perfect!

A couple of years ago on Indy, I didn't had a package and got soda fountain in the casino bar when I bought soda. That did happen over several days.

Happened to me three times and they even asked if I wanted limes!  I liked it but then I started asking for Pellegrino bottles, I tended to hoard them😉, cute little bottles!

Not liking the no free beer all day thing.  We also got one of the bargain GS for August 18th-  Might have to ask the Concierge when we hear from them

Did you Molly?  Hope we can meet!

BTW, my friend is asking me to keep a look out for more sales  of GS.  She is afraid she will never want to to return to just a "balcony".👀😬

I will defer to your greater knowledge of sales!  LOL

Bring a case of Alka-Seltzer tabs, all the fizzy water you could drink. Also it will help one who does drink. 🤡

Too much sodium, but interesting nevertheless.🤔

You can call RC to purchase the Deluxe Beverage Package for only you. Simply tell them that your cabin mate does not drink. I hear if you do that, they make you buy the Refreshment package for the other person.... but then your traveling companion can get bottled water, soft drinks, etc.

Also, I have heard you can buy one DBP once onboard at the regular price ($63-$68 + 18% grats)...

Maybe that policy has changed recently, but we've tried to get one package onboard and been refused as recently as this past February.

Essentially they are penalizing a drinker for being with a non drinker.  I guess I have to ask my "non teetotaler" friend from now on.😉

Oasis class ship?  If so, huge change!

Thanks for the info.

Yep, Harmony.  Hopefully someone in a suite on Oasis class can confirm soon.

Maybe the email was worded incorrectly?  I checked the letter that was in the suite folder in the room and it did not mention drinks were for purchase from 11a-11p.

To me it seems that wording from the concierge email is a bit vague.  "Drinks" could simply be the regular HH hard alcohol drinks only available for free during the HH hours, but can be purchased during the 11-4:30  time frame.

They might not consider beer, cheap bubbly, house wine, and bottles of water available from 11-11 no charge.... to be "drinks"?

I'm putting my non drinking friend in her own stateroom next year😇

There is also the possibility that drink cards may be offered on your cruise....10 drinks for $79-$89 dollars and they usually come out half way to the latter part of the cruise, however they are not offered on all cruises.  On Anthem, in May, they offered drink cards on day 4 of a 9 day (turned to 10 day cruise) and then beer cards on day 6- $59 for 10 beers.  If they are offered, there is no limit on how many u can buy!!

Here's what our email said on the topic:

·  Bar service is available from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm in the Suite Lounge, serving a wide array of beverages for purchase.

·  Hors d'oeuvres, petit fours and complimentary bar setup with a selection of wine, spirits, beer and soft drinks every evening from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

We never were in the lounge before the evening hours and had packages anyway, so we never really tested this out or asked.  This was on Harmony last week.

When did this change?

We've seen this wording on Harmony before when we've been in a suite - technically it's correct - you can buy drinks at the bar if you want to, e.g. a gin and tonic. But beer and wine was free.

That's encouraging news.

Yeah, the wording is just vague...and I agree...as I mentioned previously, I think it is just wording that explains pax can buy the hard stuff before 4:30.

I totally believe that if the freebie beer and wine after 11 am were eliminated...you would hear a much, much louder howling on these boards from pax.  😉
