Travelling with Haven and Non Haven cabins in group

Hi everyone!

We are booked in Haven, but will be cruising with others that will be in non Haven cabins during the cruise. I understand that guests are not able to do the Haven dining etc, is there any issue for them coming into the Haven area to spend time in the suite? Any do’s and don’ts we should be aware of? I anticipate this is considered a completely private part of ship and they can’t be in common areas like pool deck either, but curious about the suite.

Thanks!

We have cruised Haven a few times and saw people bring friends in that were not staying in the Haven and they were hanging around the pool area and got escorted out. Not sure if they are allowed to come to your room might want to ask the concierge first.

They can come to your cabin at any time without permission.

The non-Haven guests can NOT be in any of the Haven facilities (pool, spa, lounge, bar).

They can join you in the Haven restaurant for an additional charge per person per meal (NOTE that this may have recently changed with the ill conceived “anyone can eat in the Haven” promotion).

What “anyone can eat in the Haven” promo?

There was a "brief" promo that was allowing non-Haven passengers to dine in the Haven restaurant for $50 per person (provided there was availability).

Whether Haven-paying guests complained enough or non-Haven guests thought the price-point was too rich, the promo is over (and that makes me happy as returning Haven guest).

They were probably trying to get people to book the Haven instead of bidding their way into it.

Then they could just stop the Haven bidding. Adjust the prices so that more people want to book the Haven again and no bidding is needed!

I've had Non Haven guests eat with me in the Haven restaurant.    I was charged I think $25 per person.    This was 3ish years ago.   They most definitely used to allow non haven guests, when accompanied by Haven guests, to accompany you to the dining room.    I wouldn't recommend you bring your guests on the first or the last night of the cruise to the Haven dining room, its a mad house.

In fact, as a general rule my advice is to not eat in the Haven dining room the first or last night.    Let all the Haven guests eat there that first crazy night, then on the second night when those people are wanting to dine around the ship, then you go to the Haven Dining Room.   You'll get much more personal service,     Same holds true for the last night of the cruise.     All the Haven guests that ate in the dining room that first night, then they decide to dine around the ship the rest of the week and then they realize the best food on the ship and certainly the best service, is in the Haven dining room.   They realize this fact and then they are back in the haven for the last night and it's again too crowded.

Ask the Haven Concierge once you're on the ship.....(but not that first crazy day), wait until late in the day 2, then go ask the Haven Concierge if you can pay for Non Haven guests to join you in the Haven Dining Room.    I'm pretty sure it will work out unless things have changed.

That was the norm and has been that way for years. Things got a bit out of hand so NCL started to allow the concierge to allow/not allow the request at the concierge's discretion.

When NCL flirted with the "open to all" Haven restaurant/bar idea, it was to be limited as far as the number of non-Haven guests. This would have probably been up to the concierge to decide based on how crowded the Haven was on that particular week. After the backlash, NCL abandoned that idea.

I would guess that things are back to the way that they used to be and the non-Haven guests can accompany the Haven guests in the Haven restaurant with the $25pp charge and the approval of the concierge.

Has anyone recently (after NCL abandoned the "open to all" idea) tried to invite non-Haven guests to the restaurant? Has the price go up to $50pp which was the "open to all" price or is it still $25/$35 pp? Is it allowed at all? I haven't seen any recent feedback.

On our last cruise there was a family in the Haven who consistently brought a non Haven family into the pool area, outside deck and observation lounge. She was so bold I even saw her  use the other woman's room key to order 3 drinks and food at the Haven bar. I think she was so bold the staff thought the other family was in the Haven

Which ship?  Some have hallways that bypass concierge desk and public Haven areas so it wouldn't be a big deal to escort them down the hall to your room.

This one will be on Breakaway....we are in a 2 BR.

We did sail on Epic in the Haven 2 BR earlier this year, and there was another key card entrance that went right to the suites, just not sure if it's a no-no lol!

If you are on 16 you have to go past concierge desk but 15 you don't if in Haven proper.

The Concierge makes it their business to know everyone in the Haven. I have seen some non-Haven guests try to accompany Haven guests into the pool and bar area, but were (nicely) asked to leave.

I have seen some non-Haven guests with Haven friends in the restaurant.  Not sure how that was worked out, though.  Extra charge?

The selling of Haven Restaurant to non Haven passengers was not met by the Haven-ites.  That experiment did not last long.

My understanding is Haven guests can have anyone they want visit them in their suite/room, but they have to escort them into the Haven because otherwise they won’t have access.  The rest of the Haven is off limits.  I’ve gotten concierge permission for cabin crawls to quietly and discreetly walk the crawlers through the Haven to our suite but it was a given that it was a quick walk through, period, with hanging out in the suite afterwards.  The key was I did clear it with the concierge.

I would think anyone can have whatever guests they want in their cabin (within reason), it’s just the public areas that could be an issue.
