EZAir ticketing

You will contact your agent.

Ask your agent to contact Princess and ticket your flights. They will eventually be done but you can ask that they be done sooner. Once they are ticketed, no changes can be made.

Your EZair ticket will automatically be purchased at approximately 45 days prior to embarkation day.  You don't need to call and ask.  Watch the airline website and your booking will appear as ticketed once it has been purchased.

Also, up to that point if the fare goes down you can cancel and make a new reservation.  Many folks do this a time or two.

We prefer to have the airline ticketed at final payment, this way we can seat select/ upgrade .

sorry Brian, I don't understand your response.  We always use EZ Air.  We have a trip planned this coming Dec. and we  got the flights thru EZ Air.  Haven't paid a cent for the trip yet, but did go onto the American Airlines site and reserved my seats and upgrades.

Also, glad I check once a month because I learned that the first leg flight was changed.  And that change let them change our seats and I was able to go onto American Airlines and get the seats we wanted.  I always feel, the earlier you can reserve your seats the better.

I’m not able to select seats yet on there app. It says that it needs to be ticketed. The airline is American.

we booked our trip ages ago when Princess ran a "free ticket" special.  We went onto American Airlines site and reserved our seats.  hmmm  And we still haven't paid for our cruise.

Good for you!

What airline is it?

Some don't allow set selection until 24 prior to the flight regardless whether it is paid or not.

You would have to call Princess to pay for the air. They will then talk with the air department.

Brian - just call the main Princess sales number and tell them what you want to do. You'll get routed to the right department. It's most likely the person you talk to the first time will help you.

I suspect that many of the people who can already select their seats have some status with AA's frequent flyer program. Are you a member of the AAdvantage program? If not, join up (it's free), enter your number on your reservation and see if you can select seats.

That’s been my experience & it varies by airline policy.  We are not in any higher level frequent flyer program so that hasn’t been a factor for us.

I’ve been able to make a free seat selection long before final payment on USA airlines including on AA.  Even some non-USA airlines allow it but require payment before check-in.  KLM permitted paying for an upgraded premium economy seat long before final cruise payment.

Here’s a form to fax an early EZair payment request although I’d follow your recommendation to call Princess first.

Casey12 is correct.  I just happened to inquire on this procedure a day ago because we have not booked EZ-Air flights for a long time.  When I am ready, all I need to do is call into customer service and the rep will connect with the air department to do the ticketing.  I will be doing this so I can buy an extra legroom seat on Air Canada.  AC does not allow any seat selection until/unless the res is ticketed.

Of course once ticketed, the flexibile EZ-Air benefits are gone and the ticket becomes restricted and subject to airline regs and change fees.

I did this through ez-air on Thursday this week. I chose flights on American and could not figure out how to select seats on the American site. I went back to ez-air. I chose modify flights. At that point at the top of the page is a box labeled "select seats". I chose that box, selected the seats and when I went back to American's site my seats show as selected. I hope this helps.

We booked a flight to Berlin on EZAir and booked seats at the time.  After reading this, I went to the airline website and we have those assigned seats for a flight in May/June.

Thanks to all for the suggestion to do that!!  🙂

Every airline is different so what one passenger is able to do on one flight the next one might not on the same flight.

As stated airline mileage status plays a role as well.

For an example Lufthansa is known for not allowing seat selection until 24 hours prior.

I had the same issue with BA as well.

So I try and find flights are United but operated by Lufthansa. That way I can choose seats because of my Mileage Plus status with United.

I had this same issue.  My cruise is a casino comped cruise through an MGM casino property.  I called Princess and found that on such cruises, they have to get the casino to agree to us accessing our flight.  Usually the casino doesn't pay Princess for the cruise until the final payment date passes but I agreed to pay for the flight so Princess was able to do whatever they had to do on their side to code the reservation to allow AA to give us access to choosing seats.  I have travel insurance on all trip costs so wasn't concerned that this would probably make the flight non-refundable.

Call Princess and see what they may need to do so you can choose seats and fill out any additional information needed for each passenger.

You will need to send a fax to EZ air, call and get the number.  They need it in writing that you want to ticket early.  I've done this in order to pay for premium seats on Delta.  The airlines will not sell you a seat on a non ticketed reservation.

Curious when this was for you as I was told all need is a phone call and I probed it because I needed a letter faxed years ago.

Do you have a frequent flyer account with American?  IF you didn't use a travel agent how did you book this cruise?

Try the web site for AA, not the AA app. I was able to select my seats via EZAir. Using a desktop computer (not my cell phone) I can change my seats via EZAir on the Princess website. I also entered my DH and my FF number on that web page. The EZAir Princess page ultimately was updated with our TT number.
