SRF Posted August 23, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2019 Towels are available at the pool station on the pool deck. They scan your SeaPass card for the towels. If you do not return them, they charge you $25 per towel. Only bath towels in the room. Pool towels are blue. Bath towels are white.

This procedure - waiting in line to turn towels in is another reason we have stopped cruising on RCCL. What do they think? People are going to steal them? Just an added inconvenience. This is a way for RCI to recover some of the loss from people that are stupid and lazy.

We were at St. Croix once, only ship docked there, with a beach right next to the dock. As we were leaving, we could see a sea of blue towels left on the beach. The Revenue manager said to us later that he had run through his annual budget for towels in 2 months. The pool towel fee was re-instituted a few months later.

Very quick and convenient, and if I want extra towels, or to swap out damp towels several times during the day its a breeze. Can't do that if you get them in your cabin.
LeeW Posted August 24, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 24, 2019 Tip: Only check out towels with one cruise card in your group. Use same card to check them in at the end of the cruise. In between, just exchange wet towels for new ones as needed without using your cruise card.

Yeah, that whole 45 seconds is a great reason to abandon ship.

The towels are actually assigned to your folio number, not the specific card used. This summer we had 4 people all on the same folio, so any of the 4 cards could check towels in and out, and all be counted the same.

They don't weigh much or take too much space and are relatively cheap nowadays too. With the added bonus they dry in no-time ( handy if you've got a balcony as you can put them on the back of a chair for a short while too)

Not really, it goes very quickly. Quicker than entering the ship on a port day.
loveheart Posted August 25, 2019 #15 Share Posted August 25, 2019 Once you have checked out your towel you can exchange them as many times as you like without needing your sea pass. You only need to show it at the end of the cruise to check them back in. I've never waited more than a few seconds on any cruise I've been on.
