spikecat Posted August 29, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2019 What is the best way to get from the cruise pier to St. Marks square?
hallasm Posted August 29, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2019 I did take the Alilaguna water bus - bus stop next to the cruise terminal.
CruiserBruce Posted August 29, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2019 "Best" is a totally subjective question. We have, and will again next June, walk. Nothing wrong with the Alilaguna...we have used that as well.
chipmaster Posted August 29, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2019 (edited) Best experience, IMHO the best experience is to pop for a private water taxi. They don't take you thru the grand canal but for few extra euros the can do that. Done St Marks to cruise terminal twice, ain't cheap but priceless. views and experience, far better than a gondola ride. Can't beat the convenience, they will take you to any of the major docks, or any of the private ones that save you a hike over cobblestones and bridges, and views and private enjoyment well worth the price. Just want to say that not all areas in Venice are easy walkable - do not know if it is post cruise - but not that easy if you have luggage. I once missed the Water bus at St. Marks on my way to airport - possible to catch the boat the the Northern site of the city - but not that easy with luggage but possible. edinburgher Posted September 1, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 1, 2019 The Europe for Visitors Venice website is an excellent resource, just look for the cruising section. And sites such as whatsinport, cruisemapper etc. And Tomsportguides if your port is listed there. Info, maps, pictures. And use the SEARCH box next to the Italy Boards Forum with the word Venice, tick "this forum" then the magnifying glass and many many previous threads and posts will appear. You can browse them quite easily.

You have several options depending on your budget and preferred mode of transport. Listed below in order from most to least expensive option: 1. Water taxi 2. Alilaguna 3. Vaporetto (people mover to Piazzale Roma & Vaporetti #1 or #2) - routes below: https://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/vaporetto_routes.htm 4 Walk (people mover to Piazzale Roma & walk from there) Edited September 1, 2019 by dogs4fun
