How many C&A points?

Oddly, I got two different answers from the call center.  How many points for a single passenger, in a suite, for two ten-day cruises back to back?

20 days at sea is 20 points

1 extra point per day for sailing in a suite 20 points

1 extra point per day for sailing solo 20 points

I will qualify my answer with one exception.  

 

If you had originally booked a balcony or below and ended up in a suite due to an upgrade through Royal UP then you would only get points for the category that you originally booked which would then be 40 points

The CSR thought that because suites already get double there would be no further double for booking as a single occupancy

The rules for points do not use the word "double" and continuing to think double makes for confusion.

 

1 point per night

1 extra point per night for suites

1 extra point per night for solo cruisers in non-studio staterooms.

It is really shocking sometimes how poorly the first line CSR's are trained.

Every night solo in a suite earns 3 points.  That said, RCI has never (not even once) given me the solo credits unless I call in.  I always get 14 points on a 7 night and have to get that corrected to 21 with a phone call.

Thanks for the clear explanation, Host Clarea.  I may have made it worse because of using the term “double” which Celebrity does and I’m used to.

The problem with using the word "double" is for cases like this.

 

If you say you get "double" points for a suite, and "double" points for solo, then solo in a suite is 1 x 2 x 2 = 4 points per night.  

 

Saying one point per night, plus one point for solo, plus one for suite means 1 + 1 + 1 = 3.  Which is the correct answer.
