Remember to have spare batteries for your camera, the cold really zaps them, although when you warm them back up you find there is still life in them, so they do not take that long to recharge.

Excellent advice Mic . We had 3 batteries for each camera and we left the cameras outside when we were on wildlife alert . The cameras would fog up moving them from hot to cold and reverse so we just switched batteries and no problem . We also took microfiber cloths to clean the lens and extra SD cards .

Gerlache orcas, named for the Gerlache Strait of the Antarctic Peninsula where they are most often found, are smaller than Type A and Pack Ice orcas.  They also may appear brown or yellowish because of diatoms and have a cape of pale color.  Their preferred diet is unknown, but they have been seen feeding on penguins and are usually spotted around penguin colonies.

Small Type B Antarctic orca

We finished the evening photographing a couple of old friends .
