We are getting on Mera for Thanksgiving this year (Martha Stewart Thanksgiving dinner apparently will be available, not that I will be interested unless she gets reaaaaally creative...), and we have a Cirque dinner included with our booking.  Isthere more than one time available for Cirque dinner daily?  I believe there are 2 cocktail shows but only 1 dinner? Having seen the dinner reviews, not impressed and would rather have dinner elsewhere, wonder if they will trade for a cocktail show instead.

I have not seen wings anywhere other than the room service menu which has a $7.95 service charge when ordering.  We had the food in the pub and I would say that the burger was fine but is the same as the buffet/grill burgers but the fish and chips was good and unique.

 

For Cirque there is two dinners.  See my previous post, I just posted the Cirque schedule for tonight.  I am not sure on the trade for cocktail and show, we didn’t have one included with booking.

 

The pub serves potato chips with drinks, other bars serve a snack mix.  The Sky Lounge has finger foods available.  Here are a couple photos from the Sky Lounge.

I would suggest yes.  The desk has one double US outlet and one single USB port plus 2 European outlets.  By the bed is only a European outlet and the bathroom has a shaver outlet only.

I think the indication for no food or beverage in the theater is a smart move. Some lady on my Seaside voyage lost her footing in her hideously high heels and spilled her drink on someone seated while going down the stairs. The two guys almost got into a fist fight and an usher had to step in. Accidents happen but I'm 100% with this policy. No one needs to wear someone else's drink as stairs are involved in this venue. I could see if they were just serving popcorn during a matinee movie showing or something but otherwise... not at night. The shows are not that long anyway... 45 minutes or less.

Regarding the MSC Meraviglia's Sports Bar. It's up in the Sports Complex. It's not a typical Sports Bar. If you want something like that then check out the pub on the Promenade. The Sports Bar on Mera augments the gaming area for the arcade, the indoor sports court, the flight simulators and the bowling alley. It's not meant to be a place to really, truly hang out. Hope that helps! I questioned the same thing and did some research on it and discovered the pub is the best place.

So one person has an accident and 985 people have their privileges removed? I love to sit and have a drink watching a show, I know it’s only 45 mins long but I’ve always taken a drink and never spilt a drop. I’m not convinced MSC would stop people taking drinks in. The bar waiter was serving drinks in the theatre on Seaview.

Indeed, and it is strictly enforced....trust me....on entry, you will see all the half finished drinks sitting on the ledges!

quick sporting question if I may - we are sailing from Miami in early January and I was wondering if you have seen any of the venues showing footie in the morning (based on time difference in the UK)?

You will see any real footie you wish, on the circular bank of TV's mounted above the bar in the Casino....not the Sports Bar, no footie there only basketball and stuff like that! Another venue is the pub (on deck 6) but probably not in the morning.....assuming you are thinking 7.30am local time.

The theaters don't have handrails because of sight line issues. As a result people who don't have something to hold onto wearing improper footwear in rough seas would spill their drinks all over the place. I saw it first hand. While NCL does allow for it in their theaters, I can see why MSC might not. It's a safety issue overall, especially with glasses. On the Seaside they didn't have waiters in the show room serving drinks. See what they do I guess...

I’ve just asked on a Facebook group and it seems that it’s only Meraviglia that enforces this rule. Lots of people saying they took drinks into theatre on other ships . I did every night on Seaside and all Fantasia class ships and Lirica class ( I’ve not done Musica class).

We have sailed Meraviglia twice, and were Yacht Club.....the only reason I mention this is that on the first evening an assistant butler insisted on escorting us to the theatre (so we didn't get lost!!) and weighed in heavily on the no-drinks rule, and its enforcement. Every evening there are a couple of staff members specifically looking out for anyone with drinks, so no-one gets in there with a drink.

 

Unless, of course, in the highly unlikely event the policy has changed but the daily news sheet way up in an earlier post states clearly the policy which applies to food as well as drink. Personally, I think the policy is good as I have seen too many accidents or near accidents with alcohol in theatres across our 45 cruises.

Honestly, having a drink in hand is the only way I'd watch some of the shows on MSC, so if there is a no drink policy in there, that makes my decision to not see any of them that much easier.

I'm sure it's not because of one person.  I've had drinks spilled on me and have sat on wet seats on other cruise lines more than once myself.  It's not that fun.  I am not sure how much they will enforce the rules but I am told that there is no bar in the theater on MSC ships.

oh yes, there are liquor control police at the theatre and yes, you be asked to dispose of your drink - we got into a little arguement the first time on the Divina - thought it was a crazy rule - but i suppose there is nothing for the staff to clean up - so i would say it is the laziness of guests who just leave their drink on the floor by their seat (perhaps not quite empty) and gets knocked over and the staff must keep cleaning ... i would think this is more the issue why....

gosh, I hope the food tastes better than on Norwegian. Norwegian's menus were pretty nice, but the food was bad.

MSC's dinner menu looks good, and I hope it tastes at least half as good as it sounds.  :)

 

*Disclaimer: we consider Regal Princess' food to be the best out of the 3 lines we tried. NCL was the worst, RCL was good.

I was on the Oct. 8 sailing and the food was awful. Meats were very tough, food was often cold and items were not as they should be. Two examples a crab cake that had no crab but was mainly potatoes with a little fake crab, and an inedibly fishy grey rather than white New England clam chowder. Ncl food is gourmet by comparison.

Yes, some decided to play ignorant and did just that. Guess they must think they are special and don't need to follow ship rules.

The other poster is correct that there best bet is the Casino and the Pub when they are open.  The Sports bar on Meraviglia actually doesn’t have TVs and is more for the arcade.   The Satellite has gone out a few times on this cruise but supposedly it was due to being far North.

I started this thread to answer any questions on Meraviglia while I am onboard.  I didn’t mean for it to turn into a place for a bunch of complaints about the ship.  We are having a great time and have no major issues!
