An Experience At LAX Airport For Drop-offs and Pick Ups

When we come in January, I think we're going to try the FlyAway bus to Long Beach.  Our hotel in LB is just two blocks from the bus terminal, and if I'm reading about it the right way, it looks like the FlyAway pick-up at the airport is right outside the terminal.

Check and see if the Passport Bus goes by your hotel. It is free and goes from DTLB to the Cruise Port and points in between.

The new pickup area started yesterday and was all over the local news today.  People were reporting standing in line for an hour to get a taxi or ride share.  The TV news showed long lines of people.

I'm not sure I understand what is going on at LAX. No ride share pickups on upper level which is departure level. I get that.

 

But ride share pickups OK at the lower level for Arrivals, like those who pick up checked luggage?

No-- ride share and taxis moved to a separate satellite area away from the terminals.

And us old people that need help with our luggage?????  We have to get them on and off the shuttle by ourselves?

I haven't been back to experience the change yet-- I could still get an Uber terminal side when I was there a few weeks ago-- but you do apparently take a shuttle like a rental car shuttle over. I'm sure the driver is there to help with luggage. 

 

It's a temporary measure for a few years until the people mover opens.

We will be there in February. I suspect they should have it all worked out by then.  🙂

Not until 2023-- it will be this way for years.

If you are at one of the higher number terminals, the FlyAway might be  full. If that is the case, head over to a lower number terminal to make  sure you get on. Yes, the FlyAway buses and all shuttles still pick up in front of the terminals.

It might be a big assumption on my part, but I assume drivers can assist.
