Scandic Plaza Hotel have AC

 Share

Recommended Posts

We are all booked for a b2b Baltic/Norway cruise for august 2020 with RCCL.    I would like to book a hotel in city center of Copenhagen that has AC for our 2 days before cruise departure.   We like to sleep in comfort, especially when dealing with jet lag.     Does anyone know if the scandic plaza hotel has air conditioning in their rooms.

Looks like the scandic webers does but I like the central location of the scandic plaza hotel better.

Thank you for your help!

Do you mean the Scandic Palace hotel?

We stayed at the Scandic Palace in August 2018.  It's not true air conditioning as we know it in the U.S.  It's "air cooling," and it's not precisely the same thing (though better than nothing).   In the description of their rooms on their web site, they even say "air cooling"

Fortunately, though there had been extremely high heat earlier in the summer of 2018, by the time we got there in August, it wasn't that bad.

The hotel, btw, is in an excellent location and provides a wonderful breakfast.  The main problem was the ringing of the bell in the City Hall tower across from the front of the hotel.  It rang every 15 minutes from early in the morning until midnight, and it rang out every hour on the hour during those times.  Some rooms are not affected by this, some are.  Ours was, even though it was supposed to be a quiet room and we weren't on the street.  It wasn't terrible in the morning, but it really was disturbing when we were trying to get to sleep.  So, OP, in terms of your "comfort when trying to deal with jet lag," please keep this in mind if you decide to book there.  Make sure you aren't facing City Hall and also that you don't have a room facing the inner courtyard that has a sort of French balcony that opens without any double glass barrier to the outside.   You want a room that just has windows that you can keep closed at night.

Thank you for this information.  We have narrowed down our hotel search to either scandic palace or The Square hotel.  Similar location.

Is there easy access to metro train or bus to get from airport and to cruise port with luggage from this location?

You will most probably dock at Oceankaj and, afaik, the metro link to the port is not yet completed. There is a bus (#25 and/or #27) that one can take. If you take the S train to Norreport, you can catch the #25 to port from here.

The main train station is on the other side of Tivoli, so you have to skirt the edge of the park to get to the square.  Go left out of the station, it's a shorter walk.  The train from the airport was about $8/person I think, and easy, as it loads on the lower level of the airport.

Looks like new metro station open at radhusplen. was thinking of taking taking metro 2 then transfer to metro 3 to get to hotel. Either stay at the scandic palace or the square hotel.  Then on embarkment day we could take metro then get on bus 25 or 27 unless new metro station is open near cruise terminal next summer

Yes its possible to take metro M2 to Kongens Nytorv and then M3 or M4 to Rådhuspladsen.

Just remember to take the metro via København H.

M4 to Orientkaj opens in Spring 2020 so it should be open when we reach summer time.

From here shuttle busses will most likely take you to Oceankaj.

But we will get more info when we reach the time of opening of the line.
