Passport Expiring in less than 6 months

Never gave my passport date a thought.... Pulled it out today for my December 1st cruise and it expires on February 8, 2020.  I know they recommend not having one that expires within 6 months of cruise sailing.  I did do the online check in and it let me do that.  A message did pop up that a they recommend an expiration date outside of the six months.  Has anyone had experience with this dilemma? TYIA

No problem with a closed loop Caribbean or Bahamas cruise based out of the US.

It depends on your specific itinerary whether the "must have 6 months remaining" is required.  I suggest you check the various countries that you're visiting to see what their requirements are.

 

Typically, most countries that have the 6 month law are not in the Caribbean.

There will be passengers aboard that don't even have a passport so your passport with less than six months is more than enough.

It also depends on the cruise line.  Some cruise lines require that all passengers have passports and that they have a 6 months remaining validity.

 

Mainly some of the luxury lines.
