I rarely go. a beach day would be the absolutely LAST way I'd want to spend my vacation. the only beach I visit with any regularity is the Dog Beach. Rex loves the waves. and since Rex is a pet and NOT any sort of service animal and I won't be so crass as to pretend he's an ESA , he won't be joining us on any cruises. I don't live anywhere near a beach and feel the same as you. I'd much rather spend my time doing something else and really dislike being out in the sun. So to the OP, I'm on the anti-private beach side.

Different strokes for different folks. Are you comparing SF Bay to beaches in the Caribbean? Note even remotely the same.

I'm not comparing beaches in that observation. I'm merely saying that, while any particular beach (whether in the Caribbean, California Coast, Hawaii, Polynesia, etc.) may have some worthwhile natural beauty, sitting and "soaking up rays" gets old pretty quickly for a lot of folks. AND, if you happen to live near a beach (perhaps any beach) where access is easy, the last thing many of those folks would want to do is "go to the beach" on a cruise. I drew the wrong conclusion that you were saying you had immediate access to beaches comparable to those in the Caribbean.

Yes, Carnival built the dock and port facilities. But Grand Turk is an established country, and you could go there on your own, separate from a cruise. Can't do that with most "private islands". Grand Turk is not a country.
Bizmark'sMom Posted December 10, 2019 #56 Share Posted December 10, 2019 I love beaches, swimming, and snorkeling. But no way do I want to do only that on vacation. Even when I'm at an all-inclusive, I roam around the city and take tours to interesting places.
