NJ&Ozzie Posted December 28, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2019 Hi all, Just wondering - while on board - can I buy a Next Cruise Certificate for a friend? Would I put the certificate in their name, etc. so they could use it on any cruise of their choice? For payment - would it go on my credit card (for reimbursement later) or could I put it on their credit card directly (if I have the info)? Thanks! Cheers, NJ
phabric Posted December 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2019 While on the Symphony January 2019, I did not want to book a dated cruise as I had a few cruises booked for the next few years. The agent was pushing for a dated cruise for the bigger OBC their were offering. She finally mentioned a refundable voucher that was dateless and could be transferred to anybody with a $25 OBC for that person and a second person would be charged $100 with no OBC. I could purchase up to 3 vouchers on my credit card. I received an paper with all 3 vouchers numbers listed. When I later decided to book, I gave my agent one of the voucher’s number to use. I received $25 OBC and my travel mate was charged $100 with no OBC. All 3 vouchers numbers showed under My Account. I don’t know if you can purchase with friend’s card, I would take their number with you encase you can use it.

Casino Comp Chick Posted December 30, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 30, 2019 (edited) I remember on the Anthem this March during the cruisenext demo they said you could purchase for another person. Iamcruzin Posted December 30, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 30, 2019 (edited) My only reply to this topic is that with credit card fraud being as rampant as it is there is no way a reputable company would allow you to use someone else’s credit card let alone use the numbers written down on a piece of paper. You would still have to sign for the card and since it’s not your card you would be committing fraud. The only way around this is if the friend added you as someone who could use the card and you had a card in your name. Guess we could buy it on our credit card but put certificate in their name? That should work I hope. NJ

There was never any mention of using someone else’s information.

You must always use a credit card. A maximum of three (3) NextCruise Bookings, of up to three (3) staterooms each, can be made per person while onboard each Royal Caribbean International cruise for yourself, your friends or family. Back to back consecutive cruises will be treated as one cruise when determining the number of NextCruise bookings a person is permitted to make. NextCruise cannot be used for Travel Agent resale. So you use your card and settle up with your friend, not a big deal but at least the OP has confirmation that they can buy it for them on their sailing. cantgetaname Posted January 1, 2020 #10 Share Posted January 1, 2020 Hope everyone doesn't mind my question. I have a cruise already booked via my travel agent. The current offer (non refundable deposit) which I'm ok with the price gets me the particular cabin that I want at an acceptable price (solo occupancy with a really nice balcony) but it has no on board credit offered. Could I get a good next cruise certificate for that cruise while keeping my cabin that I want and get myself some onboard credit?

The next cruise certificate is a booking, so you would need to cancel your current booking to use the next cruise certificate. The cruise would be repriced to current prices.
