v3cruiser Posted January 19, 2020 #51 Share Posted January 19, 2020 That's a bummer. Totally understand your frustration. At least carnival gave you a little more than just the taxes back on each port missed even thought it doesn't make up for the changes in product or service you paid and planned for. Mechanical vehicles fail from time to time unfortunately.

If you factor in the OBC against price paid even better. 1
shay87 Posted January 19, 2020 #53 Share Posted January 19, 2020 Do you happen to have the daily Fun Times from this cruise? I am about to take that exact same cruise.
ShakyBeef Posted January 19, 2020 #54 Share Posted January 19, 2020 I was on this cruise. I don't have a lot of time right now to read this whole thread and to stick around for a lot of chatting (only have a few days turn around time between this cruise and a fly-to trip to Abaco - I'm in exhausted, rushed unpack-clean-and-repack mode). But I'll answer questions and clarify where I can. Our original ports were supposed to be Amber Cove (January 13th) and Grand Turk (January 14th). We missed both. Nassau was added (as announced in a letter from the Captain on the 14th) in order to give us a port day. We stopped in Nassau on January 15th, which would have originally been our final Sea Day before docking back at Port Canaveral on January 16th. I have the Fun Times, but I'm sorry, I don't have time to photo them and load them. But make sure you catch "Power of Two", the Filipino duo that is just as good as the great Filipino house bands of Carnival days gone by. Ashera (the female half of the duo) is a powerhouse of talent! They usually play at the Drama Bar (Casino Bar), on Deck 9. I do not feel the same about this as the OP. Although my family and I were all disappointed to have missed both of our scheduled ports for this sailing, we realize 'stuff' happens and aren't looking for any more compensation than the refunded port fees, Shore Excursion purchases, and $50 per PAX per Port OBC that Carnival already gave us. It would have been nice to get 25% discount on a future cruise or whatever (especially if that would be 25% off what we paid for this cruise toward the next, because it was four of us in a Grand Suite🤑), but I don't feel entitled to that or any thing else. It was a disappointment. We were not injured or wronged in any way.

m.lynette Posted January 31, 2020 #56 Share Posted January 31, 2020 (edited) I was on that cruise. The Elation 1/11/20 - 1/16/20. I commented to my mother, who was cruising with me, before we even left Port Canaveral that this was going to be a rough one because our weather was ROUGH - lots of wind. Wind + ship = rocky business. So yeah, it was a rough ride. And they refunded all our port charges for the stops we missed and gave us the $100 credit because we missed both our scheduled ports. And ya know what....That was plenty for us! It was still a ship that I had limited internet on so I wasn't working! We did get off in Nassau, even though it was completely unscheduled, and I ended up winning money at Baha Mar. I think that the major difference between me and the eternal list of people who will not stop bitching about this cruise is simple - When life gives you lemons, do your best to make lemonade and MOVE ON! In my most honest opinion, the only way to have a BAD time on a cruise is if you make it a bad time for yourself. I took my port charges, $100 credit, and my win at the Nassau casino home with me......pretty good cruise overall! P.S. I'm headed back on the Elation, same itinerary, in May. And I'm gonna do my vacation happy dance all over again once I see her again! Edited January 31, 2020 by m.lynette

Your thread title implies this, but pretty sure Nassau is a port. If we only had vision that a ship (or our car or whatever) past mechanical issue means future success or failure. How soon do you want them to notify you of issues? Sounds like sour grapes to me, happy cruising. I’m pretty sure the entire point of the post Was to express displeasure with Carnival for the way they handled the cruise. Of course it was sour grapes! They didn’t book a cruise to Nassau. I’d be disappointed too. That’s human... Sorry OP. Here’s to better cruises ahead!!

mek Posted January 31, 2020 #59 Share Posted January 31, 2020 I'll be boarding this ship on the 8th - It's a short cruise to tie in with a Disney land vacation. I hope we make the ports but I've been on much more expensive cruises where we've missed ports in Europe and South America that I was really looking forward to visiting and life goes on.

Rare jimbo5544 Posted February 1, 2020 #65 Share Posted February 1, 2020 Lol, I think the OP meant “scheduled”, but I was unclear earlier in the thread as well. The facts are, Carnival made correct decisions based upon what happened on the cruise, and went further than they had to (and what most other cruiselines do in similar situations). Of course people get disappointed when this happens, everyone would. Quantum leaps from that to thinking Carnival did something wrong.
