Rare twangster Posted January 23, 2020 Author #102 Share Posted January 23, 2020 As promised here are some menus from around the ship (minus the MDR). The Pub The pub menu uses small fonts with fine characters so here are two sections of it blown up bigger. Izumi Jamie's Italian Lunch: Dinner: Kids: Chops Grille Dessert: Solarium Bistro Wonderland La Pastisserie Since that menu is an eye chart here it is blown up bigger:

We've only done one cruise out of Bayonne (to Bermuda and back) and the seas were very rough the first and last day. Outside decks closed and barf bags on the stairs. That was also back when the terminal was a big tent and they shuttle bused you to the ship. My wife swore never again. I've tried to tell her that we had an unusually bad experience with the rough seas, but I don't know how true that really is. On this cruise the rough seas were in the Caribbean. The North Atlantic was smooth. That's the thing, weather is weather. No telling what it will be like one week to the next. Right now as I write this the Caribbean Sea is rough and ships are missing ports in the Bahamas. That's winter cruising. Everyone fears hurricane season yet the waters tend to be smoother in the summer months until a tropical storm comes along and ships tend to avoid those.

I know that the Starbucks drinks are not included in the Deluxe Beverage Package, but are the other coffee drinks from La Patisserie included? Something that wide is difficult to frame subject matter correctly. You do a great job of it. My widest lens is 16mm and I have a hard time getting things to look "right" and interesting. Ultra wide angle is useful on a ship due to tight spaces but you have to careful using them. The trick is to finding natural lines in the scene that compliment the lens distortion. Shooting straight and level is also important to minimize keystone effect. Some of that I correct in Lightroom but if you can reduce it when shooting it makes it easier later on.
