JohninDC Posted February 8, 2021 #79 Share Posted February 8, 2021 Thanks for the great photos and all of your updates. 😎 Are you only allowed out from 6:00-9:00 AM? Not sure my dog would be able to survive on that schedule.

At 0900 hrs. the lifeguard blows the whistle and everyone picks up their stuff and leaves. If he's there to blow it.. you know how it goes. During the day, if you need to leave the house for genuine need and purpose you can go to the Pharmacy (carry your meds bottle with you, for proof!) Doctor/Clinic, Dentist, scheduled medical test that must.. Accidents & Emergencies, supermarket (Mon-Fri. only)and gas up the car same time - make a big deal outing of it! At our advanced ages, once we get outa the house for awhile daily, that suffices. Just an hour ago, I took her for a circle drive, on quiet back roads 10 mins. and back home, talking to no-one (there's no-one to speak to!!) in her air-conditioned isolation car with windows up tight and doors locked -as always. There is little real enforcement necessary, because 98.76 % of the public is smart enough to be compliant. Recent early morning pics

Aplmac Posted February 12, 2021 Author #82 Share Posted February 12, 2021 TODAY'S Cheap Thrills are the many many Portuguese Man-o-Wars (unusually) washing up on our South Coast beaches! Although unusual, this does happen two or three times a year when currents or winds approach the island from the S-East. Normally, far-smaller specimens wash ashore on our East Coast but even so, not on any regular basis. Here's a bunch of photos taken this morning, at Hastings Beach. These are BIG ones! As big as I've ever seen!

Appreciate you keeping us updated. I so want my cruise to be going on Dec 1st. I didn't book any of the hotels I asked you about. I ended up booking Radisson Aquatica which I believe used to be a Holiday Inn ages ago. I thought about booking the Hilton but I think the beach will probably be calmer at the Radisson. The day I was the Hilton the waves were a bit too much for me to venture in. I also had lunch there and wasn't overly impressed.

Nice shot of Hilton Beach on the South coast of the island. Yes, the waters at Radisson in Carlisle Bay are generally likely to be calmer than South coast Hilton - unless a swell is running, which tends to be seasonal October to March so we are at the end of that, by now March 2021. Good choice, on the grand sweep of Carlisle Bay too.

I'm stepping up from the old Abbeyville with pull chain toilet and watch out for the cockroachs lol.

That old hotel is now gone: taken down a few years ago now. Big car park for now but plans are afoot for something to go up there. Here's two old photos, from back in the last Century....
