  1. 1. Do you not bid due to getting any of these cabins?

    • An aft cabin
      4
    • A forward cabin
      10
    • A cabin with a public area above you
      35
    • All of the above

As the melody sort of goes "Know when to bid and when to fold-em"

Know what you are getting into -

Realize you may win a grand veranda super deluxe suite -

AND then also a back of the beyond cabin in galley alley - LOUD boom de boom entertainment thundering

on your parade winning cabin bid.

On a chance you may not like the category cabin you are bidding - don't go all in on the bid -

And then on the other hand if it is one of the DOS Haven cabins a cabin to die for - then consider maybe a token bid more -

Oh heck go all in on this of course if you can afford it !

Research before make that leap of faith - it seemed like a good idea at the time !

What percent of people would you guess bid on a higher category?

What percent of people would you guess bid on a higher category?

Information not shared here on CC - just a GUESS and wag* one at that -

Yes would be awful nice to win a bid for a bigger better cabin for just a few

dollars over what you have already paid

The fewer the bids the better the chances of getting that upgrade

Depends a great deal on the ship itinerary and capacity (FULL) -

what categories are being offered -

how desirable those are (definitely spas and suites) -

Dummy booking checking the potential of available cabins -

so many variables -

not much value in going from an Ocean View to a Obstructed View - but a balcony !!!

and then going from a balcony under the entertainment deck to a suite or spa suite !!!

going from a balcony or suite to a Garden Villa like I did - Alleluia !!!!!

NCL still holds the cards (or a private firm under contract) and there are still a lot of

unanswered questions about the bidding process - except there are winners and then none.

My first three NCL cruises offered nothing -

Then no bids accepted on the 4th and 5th -

Accepted on the next 4 -

2017 SUN OS from Penthouse deck 9

2018 DAWN 2BR deck 11 from SD deck 12

2018 DAWN Garden Villa from SC deck 11

2019 JEWEL DOS deck 15 from SC deck 11

*WAG - based on my track record 4 out of 9 - 40%

If there is a bigger or better cabin class from where I am at --- I at least post a token bid.

Care must be taken in bidding - when offered multiple cabin choices bidding ONLY on the

real one you would like to win. Offered more than one you could be trapped in winning a

lessor cabin paying more - once a bid is accepted there is no going back for a redo -

you are committed to the deal - Alternate solution to this bidding lottery is bypassing

it altogether calling NCL and making an OFFER !

I just decided not to bid on a cabin because I noticed that they were all below the pool deck/buffet area.  Also would never bid on a forward cabin.

Same here. We are booked in a balcony cabin and initially bid for the mini suite. When we checked the deck plan and saw that all mini suites are right below buffet and pool area, we cancelled the bid. I don't mind forward or aft, just not below public areas.

I spent many hours researching cabin locations to ensure a midship cabin with on public spaces above or below, I would not bid and loose my ship location preference. I would have too assume (I know that's bad) that all cabins left this late in the selection process are in less desirable locations as all the choice cabins have been booked by people who researched as I did
