funat55 Posted February 20, 2020 #101 Share Posted February 20, 2020 Your pictures are amazing. I was booked on the Spirit for a 9 day cruise to Japan but it got cancelled. Maybe someday I will get another chance to try out the Spirit.
Rare Captain-John Posted February 22, 2020 #102 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Long overdue refresh for this ship IMO. I would now actually consider sailing on her. Good itinerary and not outrageous prices as far as I can see. However, it is unforgivable the vessel is incomplete and passengers have been downgraded etc. My sympathies with those affected, I would not be impressed myself. brymcd Posted February 22, 2020 #103 Share Posted February 22, 2020 I loved the ship as she was so hope it has not been spoiled. Only issues we saw in August last year were the smell midship and our shower not draining

Only issues we saw in August last year were the smell midship and our shower not draining I've saw some horror pictures of rusty/black tile grouting, sagging chairs/soft furnishings, lot of cosmetic wear & tear as well as the plumbing issues etc. I get liking the theme of the 'old' Spirit but the execution didn't seem to match. Full disclosure, I have never sailed on her.
brymcd Posted February 22, 2020 #105 Share Posted February 22, 2020 Yeah, true, there were a few cosmetic issues too, but they didn't bother me too much - was my first time sailing on NCL and going from the biggest cruise liner in the world down to the smallest in NCL, I much preferred it
Cruiser Bruiser Posted February 23, 2020 #106 Share Posted February 23, 2020 Thanks for the photos. Aside from the giant screen in the atrium and the frosted glass near the Biergarten, all of the changes seem to be for the better. Spice H2O seems ideal, including loungers in the shade. Even better than on Epic. I'm going to have to find a reason to sail Spirit again.

I went on the Spirit in Dec right before the refit and would have happily gone her again even before the redo. For an adult who doesn't want all the slides, ropes courses, etc., it is the perfect ship.
room with a view Posted February 23, 2020 #108 Share Posted February 23, 2020 We have been on the Spirit 5 times with various itineraries . The last time was Christmas/ New Year 2019/2020 just before the refit. I'm horrified that the beautiful staircases to the atrium from the glass lifts have been removed and replaced with a GIANT SCREEN. I had wondered why that on the photos there was a staircase from what used to be the Champagne bar. We have just booked the Spirit for a great price Athens to Athens on the 27th September 2020. Though maybe just the week long sailing is too short for a flight from Portland.

We say it’s way out of proportion with the size of atrium. Everything else is so nice. will post more pics when we get to Dubai.
chiemseecruiser Posted February 29, 2020 #111 Share Posted February 29, 2020 Beautiful photos! Well appreciated as I will be travelling on the Spirit in April from Athens. We will be in one of the newly added staterooms on deck 10 starbord. Can you please confirm if these are accessible from the Spice H2O pool deck through the sliding door next to the bar? Nextholiday? Posted March 1, 2020 #114 Share Posted March 1, 2020 For any who have been on before. Entertainment in the evenings. I assume as smaller ship entertainment is more low key, maybe show in theatre and live music in lounges? Thanks think it’s great lovely choices of speciality restaurants if want to do them even though smaller ship
brymcd Posted March 2, 2020 #115 Share Posted March 2, 2020 Onboard now and have seen none of the issues others have reported so far. The ex children areas look really good and they now have bud light and Stella on draft too. Galaxy has lost some of its' quirkiness as has the nightclub. Casino now smells good unlike our shower. Rooms now have usb X 4 in our balcony although my one does not work. New Local eatery still has to be tested but has a few new editions in the menu and the games room is gone to make room. All in all quite impressed so far but I won't mention that large screen!!! Had the wrong names on our welcome letter so we're still waiting for our wine and annoyingly or luggage as they don't think we are in this room

rocklinmom Posted March 2, 2020 #119 Share Posted March 2, 2020 Does anyone happen to know where the Spirit will be sailing in June 2021? I don't see anything for it yet.
bluesea777 Posted March 3, 2020 Author #120 Share Posted March 3, 2020 New Multi-Function room on deck 13 above the Spinnaker. Used as a library, card/games room.
bluesea777 Posted March 3, 2020 Author #121 Share Posted March 3, 2020 Two shuffleboards were painted on deck 7 promenade (one on each side) while we were at sea. Spice H2O pool water goes up to your tummy at the deep end! Check out Reymart in The Local - he makes excellent Buena Vista Irish Coffee - we went there for our afternoon tea!! Pool deck on deck 12 have new tables/chairs in the shade and there are coffee/tea/juices stations there. There is a Starbucks coffee station there where you can swipe your room card to make your own cup.

Grandadmike Posted March 3, 2020 #125 Share Posted March 3, 2020 We took a Canaries cruise on Spirit 9 years ago and loved the ship although it was a little tired. This refurbishment looks fantastic. They have done an amazing job of making what is quite an old ship look brand new. We love Windows restaurant, used to love sitting in there for lunch on sea days and looking out of those huge windows. Would definitely consider cruising on the Spirit again now.
