VitaLuna Posted March 6, 2020 #26 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Yep, I’d go (and I’m an RN 😉) I’d wipe down the cabin with my Clorox healthcare hydrogen peroxide wipes (work against all crud, including Norovirus) and skip the buffet entirely, but those are my normal precautions anyway.
Midwestgal Posted March 6, 2020 #27 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Yes I’d go. Things are still pretty good as far as cruising goes so now is probably a better time than in a month..... my opinion
Edhoff Posted March 6, 2020 #28 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Sure would, give me some washy washy stuff, a box of rubber gloves and I'm in. Without Corona Virus this is a no brainer. I wouldn't bother with an okay ship, lousy ports, possibly too many "kids" and too short a cruise. I can drive to the port but no thanks. Virus has no bearing on my decision. Maybe if Carnival provided $500 - 1,000 casino cash I might consider it.

Gamecock_Cruiser Posted March 6, 2020 #32 Share Posted March 6, 2020 I am getting $10-$50 cruise plus OBC offers showing up over the next two weeks. If It wasn't tax season and didn't work at a CPA firm, I would be going!
Badfinger Posted March 6, 2020 #33 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Not a snowballs chance in heck would I go on a cruise right now...at any price. And I am not living "in fear", just living sensibly. There will always be cruises in the future. My concern is not so much for getting sick, but just getting trapped on a cruise ship and/or in quarantine for weeks because somebody else got sick.
mbarker10 Posted March 6, 2020 #34 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Heading on a cruise I just booked last week, leaving 15th... so yes I'd go on a free one lol. The Bahamas is free and clear of the virus, and while there's some risk of quarantine, I personally feel it is fairly minimal.

firefly333 Posted March 6, 2020 #36 Share Posted March 6, 2020 I would go if I could. Once I get thru a few errands I'm going to call and see if any last minute deals. Also booked next month if nothing else, but for sure I'd take a free cruise.
MBP1 Posted March 6, 2020 #37 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Nope not a chance. I know lots of people love cruising, but right now its too risky and new cases are popping up daily. I could definitely see someone selfish ignoring some symptoms just to take advantage of a cheap/free cruise. Worst case scenario a week long cruise could turn into a 2 week floating quarantine.

embarkation75 Posted March 6, 2020 #40 Share Posted March 6, 2020 No doubt I'd go! At this point with covid 19 likely already existing in most communities I'm more likely to get it at work/while shopping than going on a cruise to the tropics! Embarkation!

glrounds Posted March 6, 2020 #42 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Doing a 4-dayer out of Long Beach this Sunday . . . couldn't pass up $100. Now it's being marketed for $80 ! ! Too cheap to stay home quick trip to the port. I don't worry about Corona and I'm the age that is the most vulnerable to bad results. Just got off the PANORAMO 5 weeks ago. Now back at it. Aprilfoolx Posted March 6, 2020 #44 Share Posted March 6, 2020 Well as of today (3/6) my place of employment (a medical facility) has banned all international travel and domestic travel for all employees unless approved by the office of the President until further notice. Shoot... I am really hoping I will make it on my 4/9 sailing...

Luckily I purchased the 'Cancel Anytime' insurance from Allianz when I booked. Gave them a call yesterday, and they confirmed I can cancel for any reason, anytime before the trip for full refund. I'm hoping it won't come to that. My travel was just for fun/vacation so it's not too bad if I need to reschedule. But yes, anyone at my place of employment who is currently abroad or travels internationally will have to face a mandatory 14 day self quarantine at home. So I imagine there will be people who happened to leave a week or two ago that may not be able to return to work. And for those who left the US and are not citizen (only visa or greencard holders), it's possible they won't be allowed back in the US if they have visited a high risk country. But... of course, this virus could run it's course and be over within a few weeks to a month. So it's hard to really predict what will happen. People are just taking precautions to contain anyone who is sick.

Just not worth it if the ship isn't allowed to dock anywhere, we get sick or there is a quarantine. While I realize none of these are likely to happen, I am sure those cruisers on the two Princess ships didn't think it would happen to them either. There will be many more cruises in my future, but now just doesn't feel right. We just returned on Monday from the three-night cruise on the Mariner out of Port Canaveral and had a great time. But we knew going in this may be our last cruise for a while. We came home to Tampa to learn of several cases of coronavirus here. So while you can get sick anywhere, I would rather it not be on a cruise ship, and if I need to be quarantined, I would rather it be in my house than a tiny cruise cabin. I stopped reading to write you,,,I Totally Agree! The chance of getting sick on a ship, slightly higher,,, The chance your cruise might be quarantined not high, But its just not worth the risk to us right now! We'll sit back in our comfortable home, and see what happens!

Anyyone cruiser with living brain cells would take every precaution needed in the climate we now are experiencing. I would imagine that all on board would be keen on taking the necessary safety measures (hand washing, washy-washy before eating, etc.), on any cruise they will be taking. Like others have said, be careful, not fearful. I can only speak of the men's bathroom being a man, but I've noticed a large number leave without washing while I'm at the sink washing my hands! My wife asks did you 'pass gas',,joking of course,,,point is,,don't count on others doing the right thing!
