Sand and Seas Posted March 18, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2020 For those of us who are missing our cruises and the casinos on board, now we can't go to Las Vegas for at least a month. The Nevada governor has closed all casinos and other non-essential businesses. We actually just got back from a three day trip there (since our cruise was cancelled). On Thursday most was normal but all sports books were dark. Friday it started to get pretty quiet. By Sunday when we drove out, the strip was very quiet with very little traffic. So worried about all the the people there who need those jobs. I have to wonder if all of the closed businesses will re-open or if some with never make it back. https://apnews.com/a5dcac18b0637e1b7a103bd0c37532fb

Sand and Seas Posted July 28, 2020 Author #8 Share Posted July 28, 2020 Since we can't cruise, took a drive to Las Vegas a few weeks ago and will be going back next week. So good to take some kind of vacation. We visited mid-week and it was extremely quiet. Since we were there, Nevada governor has closed down the bars to prevent groups congregating, but you do get served drinks while you play😊 Masks and sanitizing stations everywhere. They had large buckets of sanitizing wipes so you could really wipe down your machine and chair to feel more comfortable. Slot machines were somewhat spread out from each other and chairs removed from some that were next to each other. My DH was able to sit next to me as we were a couple. Although Covid numbers are high in Nevada, we felt very safe inside the casino and hotel. At elevators you were able to get an empty one since it was a quiet mid -week stay. Sounds like it's different on the week-ends. We did not walk out on the strip.....too hot🌞 Food availability was interesting. Not much open but lots of 'to go' food you could take to your room. We did enjoy an open-air shaded and misted lunch at the Paris Beer Park. Tables were spread out and your server put on new gloves to deliver each meal. It was really the first time we had 'eaten out' for months. (Lots of take-out food in our city but we haven't tried restaurant indoor meals.) Anyone else able to take a vacation? Really missing the cruises, but Casinos at Sea has let me re-book three of them now so I have something to look forward to🤞
bafinegan Posted July 30, 2020 #9 Share Posted July 30, 2020 Hubbs and I are going to try Biloxi next month. Booked 3 nights, the same dates we were supposed to be on our Alaska cruise. Hopefully take some of the sting out of our cancelled cruise. baf
Rebels82 Posted August 1, 2020 #10 Share Posted August 1, 2020 Just got back from Biloxi. Biloxi has a very nice SMOKE FREE casino and hotel....The Palace. If anyone plays golf, The Preserve, which is associated with The Palace, is a great course in spectacular condition with very little play.
Sand and Seas Posted August 2, 2020 Author #11 Share Posted August 2, 2020 We have only been to Biloxi once many years ago, but loved that ocean view! It's a long hot drive into Las Vegas, but that's all we can do for a car trip😕
CalLuvsCrusingToo Posted August 11, 2020 #12 Share Posted August 11, 2020 S&S, I have been a member of Vegas boards for many many years. The boards have NOT been great about Vegas at this time, so have Not booked there. Only good reviews at this time, seems to be at Wynn. I get comps there too, but its still not enough to encourage me to visit, cuz I would need to fly, rent a car....... Not ready for that. Wynn seems to be the Most thorough with enforcing masks & distancing. Glad your experience was ok. (Didn't say where you were staying?) However theres a 5x tier multiplier end of this week Harr/Harv Tahoe. I can drive up there, so booked that. Plan to do 1 heavy play day, then get out of dodge before the weekend ugh...... people....... show up. Good luck with your trip, hope its a safe one also. CET had a good free-play offer for us and Paris comped us a beautiful suite. We walked through to Bally's for a little bit but did our major playing at Paris. We drove in on Monday and left on Thursday so it was much quieter than what we had read about for week-ends. Paris did a great job with enforcement of mask wearing. There were mask dispensers at each entrance and plenty of sanitizer. Guards and 'suits' were everywhere reminding people too. They also had huge buckets of sanitizing wipes available so you could wipe down the machines and chairs yourself and know it was done! Food options and hours available were minimal. We often took food back to our room. A couple of restaurants are open for seating 'socially distanced'. Had good burgers and onion rings at the open air Beer Park on top of Paris. Misters, shade and a great view of the Bellagio fountains while we ate in the fresh air. Very strange to look down on the strip and see so few cars and people. (Again, Monday to Thursday.....week-ends are busier we hear). Tahoe sounds nice, but yes....avoid the week-end if you can! Hope you have a great trip😎
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 13, 2020 #14 Share Posted September 13, 2020 We were at the Paris a couple of weeks ago and had a good time. Lunches were take out burgers and fish and chips from Ramsey on the Linq walk. We at dinners in restaurants. To get that cruise ship feel, we had breakfast at Buccas in Bally's which had a all-you-can-eat buffet (which the waiter had to go and get food for you). Also had outside dining breakfasts at Hexx and Mon Ami. Mask compliance was certainly a lot better now than right after Vegas reopened.
