Redokie Posted April 2, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2020 Which ship would you prefer and why? No kids coming with us. We are 50-60 age range.

Coloradohawk Posted April 2, 2020 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2020 The Emerald goes through the new locks. After going through the new locks on the Emerald, we decided we liked the old locks better. The new locks are one way and you don’t have another ship beside you going up while you’re going down. Just our preference.
casavaha Posted April 2, 2020 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2020 I like the Emerald better. We booked xmas and NYE on the Emerald, Dec. 20,2020. I have never been in the new locks, saw them being built over the years. I like the Emerald better because I have had some good cruises with that ship. Rare patrickmoran Posted April 2, 2020 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2020 (edited) They are essentially identical ships. They plus the Ruby are my favorite P ships. Crown is full Medallion now which is nice. E will be soon. The key is whether the ships do the same itinerary. The E goes all the way through and, as far as I know, the C only does partial transit. I recommend a full transit. We've done the full transit on the old locks twice (plus a partial) and a partial through the new Atlantic locks. Enjoyed all. We'll be doing a full new locks transit in January on the E. Edited April 2, 2020 by patrickmoran
jennybenny Posted April 2, 2020 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2020 I like the Emerald Princess better, but both are fine. Itinerary and Price also factor in. We really enjoy eating at SHARE and given your options that's the Emerald. I think a lot of people are contemplating these itineraries right now because there have been a couple of threads on the topic lately. Having the Medallion is a plus for us, it makes it easier to find each other if we are out and about.
Rare LACruiser88 Posted April 3, 2020 #7 Share Posted April 3, 2020 Everyone has their favorite ships, we lean a little more towards the Emerald. But, have been on both many times and have always had a great cruise!
