poffles Posted June 22, 2020 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2020 Is there a list of changes/modifications that have happened on the Edge since it's launch? I sailed March 2019 which seems forever ago now and I am wondering what might be different this time around since they were tweaking based on 'feedback'. I had a deluxe inside cabin but planning an infinite veranda this time around which I know opinions are varied but want to give it a try. One thing that I feel will be a positive will be the reduction of conversation noise across balconies from neighbors, trying to think of the positives 🙂, though I think I will miss the air flow of a typical balcony. I did a search on this and found some stuff but mostly from a long time ago so not sure if what I was finding captured everything.
Rare C-Dragons Posted June 22, 2020 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2020 We sailed on the Edge Inaugural in Dec. 2018 and again in April 2019. The only changes I recall were removing the rocking chairs from all suites except for the higher categories, and adding coffee tables to the S1's and S2's. They also frosted the glass doors in the IV cabins.
bigbenboys Posted June 22, 2020 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2020 I thought they were going to add a bar to the Retreat Lounge. Changing out of the bar stools at the Sunset Bar. I also thought Celebrity was making changes to the Casino Bar. Sounds like I spend my time at bars. LOL

Rare hcat Posted June 22, 2020 #5 Share Posted June 22, 2020 (edited) They switched location of the computer, and/ or photo areas and /or future cruise sales. Something like that..not a big deal change they said flow was better for function. I believe some wind shields were added to the Rooftop..??? And Casino Bar too, I think We enjoyed the IV...no trouble with fresh air or circulation,. We made it into a nice seating area..facing inward and kept the IV doors open.. We..opened the balc window now and then for photos and sea views. Edited June 22, 2020 by hcat

Do you mean you left the inner doors open ...not the 'window'? And when you do that, is the AC still available and forced off if the outer 'window' is open? I do look forward to the room feeling expanded. Edited June 22, 2020 by poffles

LOL I thought the OP was asking about changes made to Edge (per the title). 😊 You are correct, a bar was added to the Retreat lounge on Apex. Not sure about the other bars, except for the Casino where the have added the “Craft Social” bar also on Apex. Yes I was specifically asking about the Edge and not the Edge class in general .

Yes.. inner doors..The chairs were too clunky to keep moving in order to open and close the doors, and operating the doors was not that easy either, We really needed the extra cabin space and roomier feel with doors open..we had bed by "balc" so more room for dh to step out of the bed. We had no AC issues with the window lowered and inner doors open.. (I think the doors have since been frosted)
Rare hcat Posted June 23, 2020 #14 Share Posted June 23, 2020 Link to my old review below. It is an AQ inf veranda but shows the set up for all Inf Verandas, The first series of posts in the review have our impressions and photos of the ling narow cabin, the inf veranda as we set it up...bed by bath etc. Easier to post the link than single out photos. As mentioned, I believe the inner doors are now frosted. Dh enjoyed playing with the window controls..I preferred it closed. It was only shut by Cap a few times.,rain and window washing,,no big deal. It was very quiet out there, no wind and birds flew in !

Unfortunately on both of our EDGE cruises it was too sunny up there by day and too windy most of the time, we did not get to enjoy the area. Really a shame because they had nice music and films up there... On our Nov cruise, we had a disastrous lunch at Rooftop Grill. Very sunny & super slow service..we were going to leave but the food finally appeared. Food was excellent but very slow kitchen

I love the sun but more while enjoying the pool or near a beach, not sitting in an area like that meant to chill. I don't understand the lack of shade, seems like such an easy thing to correct but I guess they would have to acknowledge it as a problem first, simple overhanging structures would make all the difference.
Rare hcat Posted June 23, 2020 #18 Share Posted June 23, 2020 Another option for stateroom choice is the Sunset Veranda. Cabin is larger..space that would have been an inf veranda is inside,.much roomier. And then there is the huge balcony...we had a middle on Deck 7, Nov 2019(?) Our next E Class cruise will be on APEX in a sky suite with real balcony. Only 5 days but will be enough time to check out the ship including Luminae, Retreat, art work on board,, theater updates etc, Enjoy!

We did not go back either...passed through on our first EDGE cruise but it was way too sunny.. Our informal Sailaway party was held in EDEN due to inclement weather on our first EDGE cruise, and we just met with a small group in the Eden restaurant area aft on the second EDGE trip. Great spot! We went for dinner - the view of the sunset is spectatular. I also wouldn't go during the day and sit in the sun.

Nice improvement for the chair! Henrietta looks comfortable under the desk, her own little cubbyhole. 😊 Edited June 23, 2020 by C-Dragons
