A lot of fond memories from our times on this ship.

 

The short getaways out of Los Angeles were much needed stress-breakers back then. 

 

 

On her way to the shipbreakers. 

 

All good things come to an end, I suppose.

Never did Monarch but several on Sovereign starting over 32+ yrs ago, both on way to Breakers. Were Cruise Industries first "Mega Ships" as they were called...

My first Royal Caribbean cruise, 10 years ago.   So long ol gal.

Enjoyed some nice Diamond Events up in the Viking Crown on the Monarch. 1993 on the Sovereign was our first "mega" ship cruise. Wow, have times changed. Although I've grown to love the Oasis class ships, I have great memories of the Sovereign Class cruises.......

Did five cruises on the Monarch from CA and from Fl.  Since I was just on her sister ship (Majesty) in March, it was very sad to see the video of the beaching.  With both sisters being scrapped, I feel the Majesty may not be around for much longer.

I am also sad about Carnival Fantasy.  She was my very first cruise, on our honeymoon in 1991.  Hope that her being "beached" is not a bad omen for my marriage😄

Here's what I have. I didn't do the serious ship tour on three-day cruises, so the pickings were pretty slim.

FWIW, the rock wall was an abomination to the VCL

I'm surprised it never got the kind of complaints we saw about the Abyss
