Aus Traveller Posted November 17, 2020 #6461 Share Posted November 17, 2020 It seems that two posters know the answer, but are politely waiting for someone else to claim the 'prize'. Any takers?

Blackduck59 Posted November 17, 2020 #6464 Share Posted November 17, 2020 Not knowing enough about Australian Government, I will just guess Government House because that would be where you would go to get a gong like that here.
Blackduck59 Posted November 17, 2020 #6465 Share Posted November 17, 2020 Adrian, I looked at the order of decorations and that looks like "The Order of Australia" I assume that is like the Order of Canada which would be awarded in our National Capital of Ottawa at Rideau Hall the residence of our Governor General. Here in BC it would be the Order of British Columbia and it would be awarded at "Government house" here in Victoria. The official Residence of the Lieutenant Governor. Docker123 Posted November 17, 2020 #6469 Share Posted November 17, 2020 He was awarded the OAM for services to the community through his volunteer work with the Vinnies and RSL. my younger brother now has the medal set. I have a small one on his set of service miniatures. Yes Lyle, it is the equivalent of the Order of Canada. These were introduced when we moved from the British awards system. 1

Blackduck59 Posted November 17, 2020 #6471 Share Posted November 17, 2020 This particular headstone marks the place of a friend of my Dad. The three flags are Our current flag, the red ensign was our national Flag at the time of the raid and the Green and yellow flag is the province of Saskatchewan. That patch of black soil is from the family farm in Saskatchewan, we brought that with us. Hint, the date on the headstone is relevant to where I was.
