JOY DOS question

Have not been on the JOY but the Murphy Beds on NCL cruise ships are NOT queen size which would need

a lot of cabin space to deploy.

In reality the m b is a large twin suitable only for -1- adult.

Possible for two children to use the bed it would be tight - but 2 adults forget it.

When looking at the cabin diagram or photos look for a large picture frame almost floor to ceiling about 6 feet wide.

In the upper corners should be a small anchor screws which when turned frees the m b to drop out of the wall.

The cabin attendant has the tool for this.

The m b is deployed as part of the turn down service or left down at the guests request.

Some of the cabin furniture may have to be moved to deploy the bed.

My experience with the m b on the DAWN was the bed was very comfortable and sleep worthy - only concern

is getting into and out of the bed avoid sliding too close to the metal framing on the edge may pinch a bit.

I don't know what is better a folding couch or the m b - these are not the beds you would expect as in the master

bedroom. But for a short cruise maybe your body can absorb the comfort lacking features.

Hope this gives you an answer that you are looking for.

Haven't been on Joy and haven't seen pictures of the bed on Joy in the down position.  We had a DOS on Escape and the 2nd bedroom layout looks the same as the Joy except the toilet may be located differently in the bathroom.  It even took quite some time for pictures of that bed in a down position to ever show up for the Escape.

If it is the same bed, it is very small.  Our DD and her BF were to have that room but he ended up not being able to go.  That's a good thing because the bed is really only about sized for one adult.  Two small kids, sure.

The pull out couch in the living room on the Joy is different than what we had but from videos it looks to be pretty wide.  Ours was huge, like king size, and our DS had it to himself.

ETA  - Looked at a couple videos of the inner bedroom and hard to tell.  It looks like the same as on Escape with those silver legs hanging when stowed.

So maybe the pull out couch in the 2 bedroom suite is a better option for 2 adults.  Again we have done this and it was OK.  I just thought the murphy bed in the DOS looked about the same size.

Thanks guys or girls

Won't be on the Joy until April, but have been in the DOS on the Bliss and Escape.  The murphy bed is definitely big enough for an adult couple, but I'd estimate it as a double (vs. queen/king.)

It's a bigger bed than the beds in the second bedroom of a two-bedroom suite.

The DOS is definitely better than a two bedroom for more reasons than just the sleeping arrangements! (A third bathroom is one of the pluses.)

Looks like the convertible couch version rather than the whole bed folding out of the wall.

Comfort for two adults ???s - 2 kids easily.

Thanks for the pictured update.

It is actually a Murphy bed and folds down out of the wall between the arms of the sofa. When up, the wall behind the sofa is flat not recessed.  My adult daughter spent 21 nights on it and said it was very comfortable.
