Not a particularly well-visited Cunard port, Puerto Montt. I had it down for a total of five visits by the current Cunard fleet (two by QM2, both in 2006 and three by QV in 2014, 2018 and 2020). Now I know that total is at least one less with QV's call in 2020 having been cancelled. Thanks for that update, @sfred.

There were two attractions to Puerto Montt we were hoping to see.  The first was a glacier-topped volcano, Osorno, which that day's low dark clouds and rain would have kept well hidden.  The second was a nearby town called Frutillar, which has a significant German heritage.  We had planned to take a local bus from Puerto Montt.  This part of Chile is also the origin of the Pisco Sour drink, which we grew rather fond of.

Perhaps one day...

Yes, these are interesting places to visit. I have been twice to Puerto Montt and I still did not recognize it immediately - bad me, only on the second view. Thus thank you @sfred for bringing back the memories,

A new one:

Quest N 7.jpg

Oh, there's a trick to this one! At first I didn't expect this port to take too long to identify, but I'm finding the cruise terminal shown here was torn down in 2010. All I can find now on Google Maps at this location is a container terminal.

I think this photo is showing the former cruise terminal for the port of Cristobal, Panama. QM2 called at Cristobal several times during Caribbean cruises out of Fort Lauderdale and New York from 2004 through 2009 according to my itineraries.

A always: Perfect answer!

I found also tricky  that sometimes people mix this port up with the neighouring one: Colon.

What a special way to name cities and to honour the great discoverer Cristobal Colon,

alias Christoffa Corombo, alias Christoph Kolumbus, alias Christopher Columbus, alias Cristoforo Colombo, alias Cristovao Colombo, alias Christophorus Columbus...

That looks like Montreal Quebec Canada.  The ship is flying a Netherlands flag, so perhaps a Holland America vessel.  I didn't think that the current Cunard fleet had ventured that far upriver on the St. Lawrence?

Correct. That's the MS Maasdam of the Holland America Line which did frequent cruises between Montreal and Boston. This photo is from embarkation day in Montreal on one of those cruises in 2013.

You've picked up on the "trick" that none of the current Cunard ships have called at Montreal. Nor did QE2 from what I can tell. But Montreal has a long history as a Cunard port from the line's earliest years until the late 1960's. That's why I felt justified in posting a cruise ship photo of the port of Montreal to get it added  to our list of Cunard ports we've seen on this thread.

Here's one from a friend of mine.  He had mentioned to me awhile back that he had gotten up early to see the arrival of a Cunard ship to his home port, and he had sent me a photo on email.

A hint for this one.  In our Cunard port list, we already have Sydney Australia/Sydney Canada, Cartagena, Colombia/Cartagena, Spain, and Punta Arenas Chile/Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

Ah, yes. Very Good. I think this completes another one of our port name doubles, this one between your home country and the former mother country. I'll leave it for someone else to complete the identification of this port.

Okay, I will finish: Newcastle, Austalia, here on the photo with Nobbys Lighthouse.

Correct @carlmm!  QE's arrival at Newcastle NSW Australia, morning of 22 February 2016, passing Nobbys lighthouse.  I thought this was interesting for three reasons:

1)  It is a new port for our list.  Always a satisfying accomplishment that is growing steadily harder.

2)  As @bluemarble  pointed out, it completes a Cunard port double with Newcastle upon Tyne.

3)  I think this port call is the first time any of the current Cunard fleet has been to Newcastle, and as best I can tell none has ever been back.  Newcastle is only about 150km north of Sydney, and it would have been a very quick overnight segment for QE.  It is also a rather industrial port with few passenger comforts.  Although Newcastle is adjacent to the Hunter Valley wine region, this can also be done on day trips from Sydney.

Reason 3 raises the potential for a future Cunard port trivia contest.  Are there other ports like Newcastle that are "one and done", where Cunard has scheduled a maiden port call, completed it, and then never returned?  A contest like this would be challenging to referee, as it would require extensive itinerary lists.  But perhaps a possibility...

Kodiak Alaska comes to mind, with the first and only call in 2019, although that is probably a little premature and unfair.  A second call to Kodiak in 2020 was covid cancelled.  But the  transpacific for QE later this year (if it goes ahead) will bypass Kodiak and go directly from Japan to Anchorage.  Coming close, with I think two calls are Charleston SC and Manaus Brazil.

That's an interesting idea for another Cunard port trivia game. That could end up being a long list though. I wouldn't have expected this, but using the itineraries I have, I'm coming up with more than 90 ports that the three current Cunard ships have visited only once. And that's not counting unscheduled replacement port calls to places like Antalya, Turkey and Le Verdon, France we've learned about on this thread. Given itineraries for more Cunard ships, we could probably whittle that list down quite a bit though.

As it happens, Newcastle upon Tyne would qualify as a one-and-done port for the current Cunard fleet. We know QE2 has called there and there's a long association with Cunard ships built at Tyneside. However, the only call I'm seeing to Newcastle upon Tyne by the current Cunard fleet was by QV in August 2019.

Wow - that's a lot more than I thought too.  I guess the ships venture out to unusual places a lot more than I realised.

I have no idea how often Cunard ships have called in the port on the following picture.

Thus to the specialists the question: How often?

To everybody: Where in the world?

It was a stormy day and I got soaking wet.

OK, I think the sign reads "próximo retorno / next return". That got me investigating Spanish and Portuguese ports. That led to a fruitless search eliminating all such Cunard ports we haven't seen on this thread yet. Then it dawned on me (duh!) that a large part of the New World speaks Spanish and Portuguese, so of course that opened up the investigation quite a bit.

The hunch that panned out was noticing the port which satisfies the PVSA requirement for a foreign port on QV's Hawaii itineraries from Los Angeles. I previously mentioned the pattern of Hawaiian ports on four different QV itineraries during 2011-2012 which have included ports we've seen in some of @carlmm's other photos. Here is the full port list for those QV Hawaii itineraries.

Los Angeles, California

Hilo, Hawaii

Honolulu, Hawaii

Nawiliwili, Hawaii

Lahaina, Hawaii

Ensenada, Mexico

Los Angeles, California

Yes, I think what we are seeing here is the port of Ensenada, Mexico.

It would appear things have built up some at that dock in Ensenada. In recent photos, I'm seeing another red building situated between the two shown in this photo.

Concerning how often the current Cunard ships have called there, my itineraries show QV having called at Ensenada a total of five times. Four of them were on those 2011-2012 Hawaii itineraries. The other was on a 2011 four night itinerary from Los Angeles where Ensenada was the only port call.

I'm also seeing two calls to Ensenada by QM2, both during 2006. One was on the Hawaii voyage which would have included @Colin_Cameron's photo of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The other was on a three night itinerary from Los Angeles where Ensenada was the only port call.

So that's what the sign says!  Last night I stared and stared at different zoom levels to try to get the screen pixels to align, but only could make out the "next return" words, and I thought the first word was "parking".  Unfortunately the sign on the red coloured building at the left was blurred also.   I had a vague thought that the port was in Florida, but there were no ports that fit the image.  I gave up for the night and went to bed  Well done, @bluemarble!

You are absolutely right, @bluemarble!

Indeed, I thought I finish up that 2012 Hawaiian cruise itinerary.

Ours was just a technical call. We dropped the anchor, some official came aboard and stamped some paperwork, we weighed anchor and sailed for LA. Most people aboard weren't even aware.

Ah, very good. The concept of a 'technical' call was recently brought up on the "Canada extend cruise ban till Feb 2022" thread. I wasn't aware of that concept before that discussion.

Here's another common Cunard port that, according to @bluemarble's list, we haven't seen yet.  The photo blackout edits are to remove the wife's image from the photo.  Not that she's shy, far from it, but just hesitant about social media.  I only recently figured out how to do this kind of photo edits with software I already have, hence not posting this port photo before.
