lindatoo Posted September 18, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2020 On a 7 night Edge cruise, how much to upgrade to Premium package?
Ashland Posted September 18, 2020 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2020 It can vary so check your cruise planner for the specific pricing for your sailing. Once you have purchased watch for sales and cancel and repurchase, assuring you'll always get the best published price.
jelayne Posted September 18, 2020 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2020 (edited) To upgrade if $10 per day plus 20% gratuity for $ 12. 7 night cruise would be $84 per person. The price to upgrade rarely goes on sale, 1 time in 29 X cruises have we been able to upgrade at a reduced cost. 39august Posted September 18, 2020 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2020 (edited) All basic cocktails, wines up to about $20 a bottle at home, most of the specialty coffees and beers are all covered by the classic package. I suggest you wait until on board and see how the classic works for you before paying to upgrade. The cost will be the same per day as if you purchased now. Except I believe there is a slight discount if you upgrade at a bar on the first night. Edited September 18, 2020 by 39august
Blue Magic 1959 Posted September 18, 2020 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2020 Agree that upgrade to premium will be $84 per person (for the 7 nights). Might get it slightly cheaper prior to boarding - keep an eye on online offers - but these are rare. As it’s 7 nights - should also consider upgrade to Drinks & More package which is good value on a short cruise (8 days or less). Blue Magic 1959 Posted September 18, 2020 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2020 Can’t remember- but think it’s about an extra $7 per person per day (on top of the basic upgrade to Premium of $12 per person per day) but you get $50 per person casino credit as well as the extra benefits of the “Drinks & More” package (upgrade to Premium / bottles of wine in cabin / mini bar stocked free of charge on a daily basis / wine tasting event). On cruises up to about 8 days, the extra benefits received exceed / equal the additional costs (over and above the premium upgrade). Once you go above 10 days or so, as the $50 casino credit does not increase, the costs of the extra upgrade (extra $7 per person per day) begin to exceed the monetary value of the extra benefits received. Hope the above makes sense - go on the website and check the daily rate for the upgrade to Drinks & More and do the calculation Sent from my iPhone using Forums
jelayne Posted September 18, 2020 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2020 Drinks and More only includes the mini bar if both passengers purchase the D & M package.
Blue Magic 1959 Posted September 18, 2020 #9 Share Posted September 18, 2020 Yes agreed - I assumed both passengers in the cabin would take the D & M package (and so get 2 x benefits ) Sent from my iPhone using Forums

My first take on what I read is Drinks & More can be added to the classic and premium packages. But, now that I re-read this, there is a little "marketing spin" on the wording. Drinks & More Package This package includes all the benefits of the Classic and Premium Beverage Packages, like top-shelf spirits, a wide variety of wines†, liqueurs & cognacs, beer and champagne. Plus enjoy two bottles of wine*, $50 in casino free play**, and a wine tasting experience. Minibar included and replenished daily if two adults in your stateroom purchase this package. I am researching. I had already planned on upgrading to Premium. I think the Drinks & More would be beneficial. For us, the big benefit is the in room mini-bar being included. Now, if they would just include the room service drinks. 😀 Edited September 18, 2020 by Barry ATL
Blue Magic 1959 Posted September 18, 2020 #11 Share Posted September 18, 2020 On up to about 7 or 8 day cruises - it definitely works (so long as you would normally spend the $50 each in the casino). At some point (9 days?) it becomes expensive (unless you think the convenience of the mini bar is worth the extra cost). Remember the D & M has to be taken pre cruise (cannot up grade to it on the ship). Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I just checked our upcoming bookings and Drinks & More isn’t currently showing as a option.

There are likely to be changes that effect every part of the cruising experience.
deliver42 Posted September 19, 2020 #14 Share Posted September 19, 2020 I called Celebrity 2 days ago to upgrade my drink pkg on the Apex for 03/22. The cost was $10.00 per day plus 20% gratuities for a total of $12.00 per day.
Goodtime Cruizin Posted September 19, 2020 #15 Share Posted September 19, 2020 The Drinks and More package is not available on the Cruise Planner for our 12 day cruise next summer. Perhaps it is only offered for 7-9 day cruises.

luv2travel90266 Posted September 19, 2020 #17 Share Posted September 19, 2020 In the past I have bought a premium wine bottle package and haven't upgraded to the premium beverage package. What has been the experience for dinner service by the sommelier in the main dining room on getting served by the glass on a package?

We've noticed that within the past couple of years once the sommelier establishes your wine preferences refills were typically managed by the waitstaff. On our last cruise we had a waiter who had just moved from Oceania to Celebrity who continued to be attentive throughout our cruise. We rarely had an empty glass. denatravels Posted September 20, 2020 #20 Share Posted September 20, 2020 As others have said, $10 per day plus grats. But be on the lookout for a perk upgrade— I changed from three perks to four on a 14 day cruise for $120– this added unlimited WiFi and an upgrade to the premium drink package. I probably wouldn’t have upgraded and definitely wouldn’t have done WiFi, but the cost was too good to pass on.
