Sail n Snow Posted December 20, 2020 Author #26 Share Posted December 20, 2020 (edited) This morning we saw blue skies for the first time and the island of Pulau Aur in the distance. From the top deck a view of all the vessels at anchorage and our track over the past 3 days. Edited December 20, 2020 by Sail n Snow

Sail n Snow Posted December 20, 2020 Author #28 Share Posted December 20, 2020 Day 4 is almost done! This has been a great way to spend a few days not at home. In Singapore we’ve gone through a lockdown and phased approach to reopening which has honestly been amazing to be part of. As I had mentioned Singapore has essentially gone to nearly zero cases with a population of 5.7 million in fairly dense urban environment. Tonight’s show is John Taylor Magic Master and as we wait for it I’m writing this. Today was partially sunny with lots of activities. 3 of us participated in the decorating cup cakes class. Our kids liked it but I’m not sure it was worth the $30 a person. The instructors were great and helpful but it was basically a cup cake with a fondant creation on top. I could have given the kids playdoh and done the same thing. I’ll find some time to post some food photos and write up of the shows after we disembark tomorrow. Overall it was a great time even with the social distancing rules in place. I’m glad we had a chance to experience a cruise to nowhere. Happy Holiday’s everyone! 5

Sail n Snow Posted December 21, 2020 Author #31 Share Posted December 21, 2020 It’s Monday! Day 5: Disembarkation was straight forward. You had the option of placing luggage in the hall by 11pm the night prior or could walk it off. Either way you had a tag with a number as well as your preprinted stickers for the rapid swab test. The morning of you waited for your number to be called (disembarkation started at 7 and went to 10). We went to Coastal Kitchen at 8 for breakfast and then back to the room. Our number had already been called so we just grabbed our bags and left. They did have a sign for all suite guests but we didn’t need it as there was no line. Immigration was easy and then it was on to a rapid swab test which they had 32 stations set up for. This test was only halfway up the nose and the line moved quick. With all the spacing we were at the taxi stands within 30 min of leaving the ship. A few random photos. As a suite guest the kids got reusable face masks (In age specific sizes too) and the adults 2 disposable ones. I was hoping RC would be selling masks but they didn’t.
Sail n Snow Posted December 21, 2020 Author #32 Share Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) Looking back at it. We had some great meals in Coastal Kitchen. The one main that fell short was the NY Sirloin it was just ok. The appetizer that fell short was the crispy pork belly. It wasn’t crispy and just fell short, but living in Singapore it’s a dish that has high expectations. The filet on the first night was spot on. We only had two special requests and that was for a lamb shank as well as a pavlova from the MDR. Here are some of the great presentations of food. Mostly taken by the kids. I was too busy eating! 🤣😂🤪 The Bittersweet chocolate tart was served the last night and was probably the best of the desserts (besides the carrot cake ). The description didn’t do this chocolate and caramel wonder justice. It was served with red wine sorbet. Octopus appetizer Tuna Tartare Carrot Cake Floating Island (meringue and vanilla sauce) Seafood Veloute (this has amazing flavor) Sweet Pea Salad Pavlova (from MDR) Hazelnut Bar (cake unfortunately was very dry) Scallop Ceviche Key lime pie Crispy Salmon Baked Alaska Rack of Lamb Roasted Pork Loin Seared Scallops Lobster Tail Vegetable Curry (great flavor and not too spicy) Flounder with Crab topping. The photo doesn’t do this dish justice. It was one of my favorites with great flavors. Sail n Snow Posted December 21, 2020 Author #34 Share Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) One last post to share and then it’s time for a walk. From the post above you can see we probably ate too much. On the sailing were 5 main shows. Sequins & Feathers (Royal Theater) This was a good show. Some great choreography and costumes. The singers did a great job. It was odd being in a 1/4 full theater but still fun. Victoria Stryzhak (Two70) She is an electric violinist and was amazing to watch with a great set of music. Steve Rawlings (Royal Theater) A comedy juggler was pretty funny and kept the audience entertained. He had some good jokes. Starwater (Two70) Was a dance performance but to me fell flat. The beginning is Madonna’s Vogue and it slowly ramped up but I didn’t see a connection between sets. I also didn’t particularly care for the music in this one it didn’t flow to me. I did like the swing music ending and the choreography was good as well. John Taylor Magic Master (Royal Theater) is an illusionist from Australia and did an amazing job. He did some very good tricks and the finale was great. Overall probably the best performance of the five for both me and the kids. Sail n Snow Posted December 21, 2020 Author #36 Share Posted December 21, 2020 One last fun fact. We sailed with 2005 passengers and 1200 crew members. According to RC the QoS holds 4905 passengers and a crew of 1500.

Ocean Boy Posted December 21, 2020 #39 Share Posted December 21, 2020 My exerience with RCI desserts is that they usually look better than they taste. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I enjoyed reading along.
RFerrington Posted December 21, 2020 #40 Share Posted December 21, 2020 Thank you so much for taking time to do this live blog. Truly enjoyed it. I agree with @Ocean Boy. The desserts most often look better than they taste. I also agree with you that many of the shows (particularly in 270) seem to wander aimlessly and have no real theme. Best just to enjoy the presentation and not try and make any sense of it !

Hollysmokes Posted January 7, 2021 #42 Share Posted January 7, 2021 I was on the same sailing and absolutely loved it. In some ways it was nicer than non-COVID cruising! We're very lucky to have this option here in Singapore.

With the chance of a few more months of cancelled cruises probably going to happen, I’m hopping they change out ships mid March, extend the cruises and we can experience another cruise to nowhere.
