If it works out, we will be on the Caribbean Princess with you for your last week (Feb 20 sailing!)

Let's all pray all the covid will be behind us by then and we won't have an issue on the ship!

I hope this will make you feel a little better about your state's vaccination program.  According to a Time magazine article updated today, there are only 10 states with higher vaccination rates than Florida's.  (5 states didn't report their figures so were not included.)  The state with the highest rate was West Virginia with 4.9% of their population vaccinated and the state with the lowest rate was Alabama with 0.9% vaccinated.  (New York is in close competition with Alabama with only 1% vaccinated - second lowest.)  Florida has 2.6% vaccinated.

They can only vaccinate as many as the supply that comes.  In our county, they had 5,000 doses last week and the appointment reservations were filled via phone in minutes and there were 1,000's more calling in.

In many parts of the US - it is the distribution that is the problem. States have received vaccines but are un-organized in distribution. We have one area that excelled but other areas have said "the holidays slowed us down".

in Florida, at least, some doses were being held to be used for the 'second dose'

that 'may' change this week to get more 'shots in arms'

President-elect Biden has stated he will push to use all available vaccine for first doses.  Issue, of course, is that the US will have over 40 million doses as of Monday and only less than 7 million have made it into arms.  We need to better.  The process even varies by county, not just state.  Do need to offer kudos to the Lake County Health Department for their efficiency and precision in managing the inoculation process.

The only downside is that we were told to get the 2nd dose within 3 weeks and you cannot mix manufacturers (Modern 2nd does not work with a Pfizer first).  Where do you get the 2nd?  "Wherever you can" was the answer...

We're getting ours on Tuesday. It's 3.68% in our county who have gotten the first dose.
