nekzaadvakil Posted January 19, 2021 #103 Share Posted January 19, 2021 June 2019 - Quantum of the Seas from Beijing. 2020 was the first year in a decade when we didn’t cruise. Or travel. hopefully we get back to cruising in 2021.
DaniDanielle Posted January 19, 2021 #104 Share Posted January 19, 2021 It really is hard to believe how long it has been between cruises😢
Mikew0805 Posted January 19, 2021 #105 Share Posted January 19, 2021 March 13th, 2020 - Mariner. They made the announcement just as we finished muster. Josh & I were in the Schooner bar for muster, and were the only ones there. If I remember correctly, the check-in agent I was speaking with (Lengthy due to a problem with one of us not being on one part of the manifest... corrected in a few minutes) stated that the ship was less than 50% full. Never waited on an Elevator nor did we ever happen to be in the elevator at the same time as anyone else. I personally think this ship maybe had 800 folks on it. (That is a guess, just how it felt.) Never saw more than 15 - 20 people in the casino at one time. I'm ready to sail again.. it's killing me.
TexCruise371 Posted January 19, 2021 #106 Share Posted January 19, 2021 Our last cruise was onboard Radiance of the Seas in Feb/March of 2020 on the complete circumnavigation of Australia and New Zealand. We got off in Sydney on March 14th,. We had a friend that was with us that was going on the next cruise. She called our hotel later in the afternoon and said that they finished up muster when the captain announced that the cruise was cancelled as New Zealand had closed their borders. Luckily, she was able to get on our flight the next day for the U,S.
shofer Posted January 21, 2021 #107 Share Posted January 21, 2021 Actual cruise was 11/18 on a TA from Southampton to "Boston, Broadway & Bermuda" as it was called, ending in Ft. Lauderdale. Almost made it on 2/7/20 onboard Symphony of the Seas but ended up in the ER w/hubby ill from what turned out to be a food-borne bacteria enteritis. He was so dehydrated his cardiac enzymes were elevated so earning a full cardiac workup. Just as well as that was on a Friday and on Sunday I was back in the ER with the same symptoms. We would have spent the entire cruise in our room. Probably wouldn't have been allowed on the plane as he was febrile.

Should-Be-Cruising Posted January 22, 2021 #109 Share Posted January 22, 2021 Feb 28, 2020 - Grandeur of the Seas. we ‘lucked’ out from the cruise before ours! Weather was Great the whole trip. Forth try WAS a charm!! FINALLY got to put my feet on to CoCo Cay!!!!! Getting on Grandeur, asked some questions. Getting off back in Baltimore whole world flipped upside down...... Cherish the ‘good’, we already have enough ‘negative’.

dunedinmaiden Posted January 23, 2021 #112 Share Posted January 23, 2021 We were actually on one of the very last sailings before COVID closed everything down -- March 8th on the Freedom of the Seas. We were supposed to debark in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but their governor wouldn't let us port. So we then sailed on to Miami, FL, and got two free days. Thank goodness there was no illness on our ship! Once we debarked in Miami, we just rented a car and drove home to Dunedin rather than get on an airplane. It ended up being the 8th - 17th. The cruise was supposed to disembark in San Juan. The Puerto Rican government closed the port to cruise ships and we were unable to disembark. We got an extra two days on our cruise and disembarked in Miami. It was Freedom's first cruise after Amplification and it turned out to be her only cruise. We were on that same sailing with you! hachieashley Posted January 24, 2021 #116 Share Posted January 24, 2021 March 8-15 Liberty OTS. We had a wonderful trip with all our ports open and no sickness onboard. The strangest part was disembarking in Galveston to an eerily quiet down town with no new passengers coming in.
snaefell Posted January 24, 2021 #117 Share Posted January 24, 2021 Our last cruise was Quantum's relocation cruise from China to Singapore in October 2019,it was quite superb,as much as we loved Singapore the homeward journey told us that we should have done it when we were younger,it really wiped us out! With all that has gone on since I have wondered if Quantum bought something sinister back from China with us!
billf0401 Posted January 24, 2021 #118 Share Posted January 24, 2021 Ours was March 9-13 aboard the Mariner of the Seas....we were just before the cancellations began....Cruising was one the of the great joys and we miss it.....
young_ens Posted January 24, 2021 #119 Share Posted January 24, 2021 My last cruise was April 2019, on the Carnival Sunshine. An older ship but had a nice retrofit and one of the best itineraries. If specifically RCI, then March 2017 on the Allure otS. Fantastic ship, lots to do on it, itinerary was alright. We were planning on going spring 2020 (a milestone anniversary year) but we sort of waffled on booking and seeing what happened we were some glad to have drug our feet! Hoping to get back to a spot where we feel comfortable to go back to vacations sometime soon!

FiveAnchors Posted January 25, 2021 #121 Share Posted January 25, 2021 Ours was 10th to 20th March on Celebrity Solstice from Auckland to Sydney. We were in New Zealand waters when the ban on cruise ships was announced. As the ship was already in New Zealand we were able to continue the New Zealand part of the itinerary. The Kiwis disembarked in Dunedin and many had problems getting back to their homes. As we were leaving Dunedin we heard that the Australian prime minister had closed all Australian ports to cruise ships except those due to complete their cruise in Oz. We continued to the fjords and then back to Sydney. Missed out on Eden. Arrived in Sydney the evening before we were due back and stayed on the ship overnight. The Ruby Princess had docked in Sydney in the morning that we arrived. We had to spend two in self isolation at home. Just beat the compulsory fourteen day hotel quarantine. There were a lot of people from the UK and the USA who had planned to spend some time in Australia following the cruise. They spent a lot of the final days of the cruise trying to find flights home. An August 2020 cruise around the top end of Australia didn’t happen. At the moment it doesn’t look like there will be any cruises into are out of Australia in 2021. Here’s looking forward to cruising in 2022 - hopefully.🛳🍻🥂🍾
