All photos taken this week are welcome (not just cruising). Prizes will not be awarded. Discovering the joy of photography is the prize. The idea is to get folks out using their cameras for more than vacations and toddler birthdays. Post one. Post many. Up to you. Have fun with your camera and share your fun with others! boeckli Posted February 9, 2021 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2021 While following a larger one, I spotted this really small butterfly on the same bush (never got a picture of the larger one ... )
Docker123 Posted February 11, 2021 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2021 Hot day in Melbourne. 33C. As evening falls, thunderstorms approaching. earlier in the day went for a walk, including the Botanic Gardens here in Williamstown. Several Australian hobbies (little falcons) hiding in the trees, are flitting about teaching their young to hunt. This one decided to pose in the open for a few shots.

Rare pierces Posted February 15, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted February 15, 2021 Don't worry that this is the third adult-beverage-related posting so far this year. No need for an intervention. It just happens that the speakeasy and this local brewery are among the few that are open for anything other than take-out so far. Rumor is that is about to change but if we have learned anything over the last year, it's that you can't count on anything until the Powers That Be have rolled the dice often enough to get the answer they want before updating the rules. Along with life in general, restrictions have put a real crimp in my photography. Home repairs aren’t very photogenic and of course, we just don’t get out much. It’s a little late for New Year’s resolutions but I am going to have to haul out the “real camera” and force myself to have some photo fun again. zackiedawg Posted February 15, 2021 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2021 Snow? What's that? Is it that white stuff? Hmmm, I think I remember such a thing many decades ago when I was young. 😉 Wetlands visit on Saturday, just to provide some contrast to the winter scenes - bright sun, humidity 80%, temperature 88 degrees: The pied-billed grebe chicks have hatched, and they want food!: A closeup look at a grebe chick, not begging for food: A male blue-winged teal showing off its wing colors that gave it the name, and still covered in drops of water after a bath: A male red-shouldered hawk, standing on a tree across from its nest where his mate was hunkered down with fresh eggs...he had just visited her with some snake for lunch, then headed back across to the other tree to stand guard, with the rest of the snake meal tucked on the branch to his right: An osprey flying overhead with a fish in his talons: A great egret flying, while calling out: A wood stork heading back with some nest materials: Wood storks do seem to occasionally like to one-up each other. One brings back a branch, and the nest one comes back with something even bigger, so show off:
