Hi and welcome to the forum. A lot of us lurked for a while before joining in, myself included!

Photos from our sail in at mid-day which was misty as we approached but cleared as we got nearer.

Beautiful photos. There’s something really exciting about a sail in. It’s always so calm and peaceful (well the ones we have experienced anyway) We have never been to Venice but from the photos you and DamianG have added I don’t think there’s a sail in as picturesque.

Good morning everyone...........We have have been "relaxing  aboard" the virtual ship for a few days!! enjoying everyone's pictures, Our visit to venice in Sept 19 was met with a lot of mist going in, 7 then it "hissed down" most of the day. The large strange yacht in pic, apparently was owned by "Russians" !!

enjoyed our lunch in a little restaurant away from the those tourists!!

Isn't Vernice fabulous! We have been there many times over the years and there is still so much to explore. I've loved all the photos and like Damian, I have tried to find pictures that are a little different so here goes...IMG_0857.thumb.JPG.be9c5e774337ccb1e030031667aaa847.JPG

I’m following this thread closely and the photos are all amazing. I’ve had had a new computer and I’m still transferring photos. We’ve been to every port mentioned thus far apart from Corfu.

Did you sit and have a coffee on one of those tables?. A few years on here an American chap told how he was advised not to, but thought ' for once in my life '. He and his wife had a coffee with a nice cold glass of water, a biscuit and a listen to the music. He said that the story he could tell all his friends and family was worth the 60 euros.

Of all the beautiful photos of Venice I've seen, the last one taken  at night with the flash of lightening in the sky, is the best. An amazing picture.

Thanks Avril it was amazing to watch,  we were on the Rialto Bridge watching the storm in the distance and hoping it stayed in the distance!

Love the night time photos!

Thank you Damian. They were taken when we stayed at a hotel on the Grand Canal for a few nights which we have done 3 times as well as at least 5 visits on cruises. I love Venice at night as it is much quieter and there is something magical about seeing so many of the buildings lit up.

Our  first cruise to Venice was in 2003, a beautiful sunny day and I have some lovely photos. But there are pre-digital and are currently in the loft. We didn't sail until 11pm, so we went out for an evening concert and saw night time Venice from our balcony at sail away.

We were going to Venice this year, and I was planning to go to Murano and Burano, but I've already moved that cruise.

I do have photos from our visit in 2011, but it was a dull wet day, and the photos are a bit flat

Pretty difficult to follow that selection - makes it a bit easier in some ways,  last night I had whittled it down to 85 pics. Have now deleted  similar and ONLY have 27. Could have lopped a few more but the evening ones from our pre cruise hotel are nice. First is the speed water taxi from Marcopolo.

Bit exciting /scary in the dark!!

No way! I visited Venice as a student in 1984 and we were warned to avoid the 3Gs - Gondolas, Glass and Grand Pianos (i.e. cafes). 34 years later I could afford the Gondola and some Glass, but not the Grand Pianos!

We’re certainly visiting all the amazing scenic destinations.

Venice was lovely yesterday and the picture collection was a delight.  It’s an amazing place - I’m so glad we got there just the once, and just for disembarkation and flight home from a repositioning cruise.  However, sailing in to Venice to finish your holiday has a slight edge over sailing up the Solent back to Southampton

I’m looking forward to Dubrovnik.  Never been there but have been to Kotor and Split, so have an idea of what I might see
