So, if you want sun on your deck, you have to know where the sun is in relationship to you. If you are heading west from Honolulu to Australia in the fall the sun will be south of the equator, and you will be after you go to Tahiti, south of the equator... the sun will not be on the starboard side, but it may be overhead enough that the port side won’t get a lot of sun. So, since I haven’t done that trip, I can’t say for certain. That said, the port side has a chance of sun the starboard zero chance of sun sailing from Tahiti to NZ or Australia. Chiliburn Posted April 3, 2021 #27 Share Posted April 3, 2021 Leaving sydney, port is the only choice. Enter you cabin and there’s the opera house. Worth a million bucks.

Well, most of the day but mainly in the mornings. We love having breakfast on the balcony, so we would like to know which side of the ship will get more sunlight. At that time of the year, the sun will rise about 10 degrees north of east. This means that about the time you’re ready to eat breakfast the ship will likely be heading pretty much into the sun and a little later in the morning the sun will definitely be on the port side of the ship for the remainder of the day (this is for the Sydney to Tahiti leg). From Tahiti to Hawaii, the sun will be on the starboard side until about noon, then on the port side for the remainder of the day. You will be in tropical waters and crossing the equator. Whether you want to sit in the sun then is up to you; it will be plenty warm and shady on the port side!! Have loads of fun.

Less movement on those long sea days.

Good to hear, thanks! 🙂
Rare xpcdoojk Posted April 3, 2021 #36 Share Posted April 3, 2021 The equator crossing will be likely very smooth. IE it is much smoother Tahiti to Hawaii, than Vancouver to Hawaii.

Try this site. SunCalc.org Type in a location in the box to the left, or drag the map to the location you want to view. Enter the date in the box to the left, and used the orange dot slider at the top of the page to move the sun onver the 24 hour period 1
