Proof of Vaccination

Given the provinces' reluctance to give the feds any measure of responsibility for medical issues, I doubt that Health Canada with be issuing anything. I'm not sure that it even has the information to do so, as I believe that the provinces provide statistical information on vaccinations, but not the details on who got what and when. Maybe they could design a national card and leave it to the provinces and territories to issue them.

According to a March statement by Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott, the province is working towards creating some form of "passport" that would be issued once people have received their second shot. Crickets since then, not surprising since the whole vaccination program in Ontario has been in a state of shambles since the outset.

Hope things improve in Ontario.  Pretty smooth here.  We leased a home in Point Robert's WA and will transit thru BC.  Supposedly are exempt for testing etc if the have proof of full vaccination.   We will see in a couple weeks.

Truly sad that politicians have gotten into being health rule makers.  Especially as most weren't good as politicians.   Glad here at least county health departments are heading the vaccination programs.

I wish you luck transiting through BC. Point Roberts presents a strange but not unique situation, as on the East coast, Campobello Island, NB, is only accessible year round by driving through Maine. This article, which also makes reference to Point Roberts, gives a pretty good picture of the problems faced by island residents. That includes US CBP searching mail being sent in bond via Canada Post trucks to the post office on the island. Private letters, Christmas cards, parcels all subjected to opening. Although legal in both Maine and Canada, CBP wanted to ensure that, inter alia, any long haired, hippy freak pot smokers on the island would have their supply cut off!

Or better yet, order T-shirts with an enlarged copy of your CDC card printed on the front.

No need to risk losing/damaging the CDC card pulling it in/out of your wallet/purse.

Great idea! You can order them from Artscow.

Really no need to speculate.  Here is what Celebrity is requiring for startup cruises straight from their FAQ section.   I have the white CDC card, my old yellow vaccination card, and letters for each shot from my medical providers MyChart system.

Do I need a COVID-19 vaccine to cruise? What documents count as proof of vaccination?  How far in advance do I need to get my vaccine?

At this time, we are requiring guests 18 years and older to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Each guest must submit proof of full vaccination no later than boarding day, in the form of the original vaccination record document issued by either (1) the country’s health authority that administered the vaccination (e.g., U.S. CDC's Vaccination Record Card) or (2) the guest's medical provider that administered the vaccination. Electronic vaccination records will only be accepted for residents of those countries where electronic documentation is the standard issued form (e.g., a unique QR code). The vaccination record submitted to Celebrity Cruises must show that the guest is fully vaccinated. This means that the guest has completed the full cycle of required doses for the vaccine administered (e.g., received the second dose in a two-dose series), and that the guest has received the final dose at least 14 days before sailing.

Is the US “considered a country where electronic documentation is the standard”? I have my proof on my hospital’s electronic portal, and I can print it out, but they have not provided cards.

Celebrity's requirements will probably be modified over time, but for now it looks like you'll need to print out the document.

I think they are referring to the UK that uses country-wide QR codes. When my parents initially got vaccinated, they weren't given the CDC card just a few sheets of paper from the county health department. They got vaccinated early in January so there was not a lot of standardization. In March, they called the health department (had to speak to a few people) and were able to go in and get a filled out CDC card. To be safe, you may want to go that route.

My understanding of latest... Feds feel any type of passport has legal issues. ie some people are reluctant or cannot take vax therefore a passport would be a form of punishment/discrimination.

I  have not heard that Feds will accept a CDC passport, let alone release the borders as yet, so how are Americans entering Canada? (beside Rockham Road LOL)

My provincial scrap of paper for dose #1 has all vaccine info, including my demographics and nurse that administered, where and when, so I am assuming when dose #2 comes (if it does 😞  ), it will contain the same..... then what? If we use these as proof, each province will have something different. Which country will be able to validate all those scraps of paper???

Yellow fever type certificate is the way to go, or the ETA way.

Do we need a vax passport?? Yep, it's my belief we do. We've already had tons of pax arriving at airports with phoney documents, and were caught.

My biggest concern is the new arriving data. The mixing of vaccines and lengthening of dates bet doses to 10-12 weeks. Much better effect, so will some countries accept fully vaccinated pax their vaccinated way, or will countries who pushed their dosing, not be recognized as fully vaccinated?

I feel like they are the most valuable things we own right now and so I have them stored with our passports! The ones we got are larger than a credit card and so they don't fit perfectly in a wallet.

Same here, our originals stay with our passports and I made a sets of reduced size ones for our wallets. Put the originals in some 4x3 pouches I snagged off Amazon. The wallet ones got reduced to CC size and then laminated. As the back does not have any critical data, I put both of ours back-2-back and then laminated them. So now the DW and I each have proof of our and each others vaccination for Covid-19.

With yesterday's announcement of yet another shortfall in vaccine shipments next month, and the total indecision on whether to use or dump the AZ stocks, passports (for the lack of a better term) are less of a concern to me than the timeframe for when my family and I will finally receive our second shot.

That said, I think that as the EU and others start to open up, the pressure to have some standard form of proof will generate movement in Ottawa, hopefully with a quick buy in from the provinces.

Not cruising until January at the earliest, so not too concerned at this point. We would have to have our passports with us too. So of course we would have the originals too. The reduced/laminated copies are just easier to carry around and no worries if lost or damaged.

I am in the UK and both myself and my wife have had both jabs (Pfizer).

we have the cards showing our jab information but the UK Government

now have a National Health Service app. I have registered and it has details of my
COVID Injections and can be used as a vaccination Passport.

I am really impressed very easy to use.
Also if anyone does not have a smartphone or is unable to download the App

then they can request a paper copy from their doctor’s surgery.

Hi

I don’t know if you have noticed they have added a QR code to your NHS app for ease of use when used for travel.
