Good Morning from a warm but overcast day at the beach,

I am not usually creative but this past year has taught me a few things. I watered everything yesterday and will see many neighbors later this morning.

Another port I have not been to. Jeez. Cruising better open soon.

I missed a few things by not checking back in last nite. @Horizon chaser 1957 a very happy belated anniversary. Hope you have many more!

@StLouisCruisers Glad you had a good visit with your sister. Never easy. She and your family will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

A very Happy Birthday to @kazuand @baltic17. No you should not have to cook on your birthday.

It will be very loud here shortly. Rolling Thunder, a veterans group are having a motorcycle parade. Starts in Merritt Island, down RT1, over the bridge by Patrick Airforce Base and through Cocoa Beach ending at Port Canaveral. They are expecting 40,000 participants! They have asked we go out and wave as they go by in support. So we will and will see all the neighbors!

Stay safe and enjoy today

Good morning everyone. It’s gloomy and raining here and 47/degrees. We keep alternating between the heat and air conditioning. The weather can’t make up its mind.

Happy Birthday, Jacqui. Have a wonderful day and thank you for all you do for us here on this site.

Our new bar b q arrived yesterday and I can’t wait to try it out. Corn will definitely be on the menu.

I spent yesterday purging and shredding some more papers and made sure our wills, advance health care directives and power of attorney papers were stored in a safe place. So many old things to get rid of. I found some death certificates from my mother who died in 1998.

Stay safe everyone.

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!  While I may not be the most creative person, I am adventurous, so you never know what I might come up with.  We don't have to water our flowers today, as Mother Nature has taken care of that overnight.  We are blessed with great neighbours, and hope they feel the same about us.

Happy Birthday @baltic17, and @kazu, wishing you both a wonderful day of relaxation and good times.  May you both be treated like queens!

I like all 3 of the sayings today, although I might leave the rowboat at home next time we cruise.  LOL

Yesterday we spent a good deal of time trying to get our new fountain to work.  We purchased one online a few months ago, and of course in the middle of winter, you're not going to set it up to see if it functions as it is supposed to.  Well after fiddling with it for a couple of hours, DH decided to use his small air compressor to blow out the tubing and voila!  We have a fully functional fountain - yay!

I love grilled corn and may make that tonight, but I'm pretty sure I won't be braiding the husks like the photo . . . not that creative.  LOL  We have lots of leftover burgers from last night's bbq to enjoy with the corn tonight, so that's what will be served on our dinner table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  Raising the glasses to toast all on the celebration list.  Stay safe, be well, wash your hands, wear your masks and get your jabs!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Good morning Rich and a great day it is on the Daily.  Thank you.

Good morning sweet sisters,  Happy Birthday Jacqui and many thanks to you and our Roy for Cheers and Prayers lists. Jacqui, please remove Ron from cares list. He's doing much better and both eyes are open now. Stitches out on Tuesday.

Sandi thank you for sharing your trip to see sis. We've been holding her in prayer and asking God to give her peace.

Our very creative little artist and sister Denise... today is your day! Your sketches and paintings are filled with love and happiness that bounce right out of your canvas!

We had a fun time last night at the Barking Armadillo. The night was beautiful,  the band was great and our friends and neighbors were with us.

Don't forget to water your plants, but not your cat...

Have a wonderful,  blessed day.

Happy birthday @baltic17 and @kazu. Hope you both have a great day. And yes, no cooking on your birthday is a great tradition.

we have some changes to our neighbours. We lost the woman to our north just after Christmas and that house has now been sold. Awaiting new neighbours around June 18. The husband on our south side passed away in late April so we are supporting the wife as much as we can. Both had been neighbours for almost 50 years. Change is hard and we appreciate all our long term neighbours. We are finding that the younger people moving in on our street are not so keen on making connections.

sunshine today but still quite cool. And flowers and garden got watered by Mother Nature on Friday as we had an all day rain! Will probably make pizza tonight. Have a good day everyone.

I am between loads of laundry and a little too early for DH's plan to trim the shrubs so here's a couple pictures of Santos.

It was February 16, 2015 and overnight our ship had been decorated for Carnival.enhance

enhance

We docked in Santos in a commercial area which is not unexpected on a cruise.  It was cloudy and would rain a little when we left our port, but we headed off the ship to walk around this new to us destination.  We walked for miles that day.  The first thing we came across was this massive statue.enhance

Santos City Hallenhance

The Coffee Stock Exchangeenhance

The coffee cafe inside the building.  I don't drink coffee and DH hadn't started drinking it either at the time.  Now he has a cup or two every day - a late in life habit.enhance

I loved the ships above the doorway here.  The plaque on the wall described this as the Santos Trade Association building.enhance

An electric trolley car pulling a trailer behind it.enhance

Next we saw a caravan of trucks pulling floats behind them.  From my Google search it says the parade was held in Santos on the 14th, two days earlier.

enhance

enhance

enhance

Here is the Portuguese Cultural Centerenhance

And here we have the Santos Cathedralenhance

enhance

enhance

Soon we were heading back to the Ruby Princess.  However when we got close to the ship we were stopped by a train blocking the path and had to wait for quite a while before it moved out of the wayenhance

It rained just before leaving the port of Santos.  I still took photos at sail away.  I should have had an IPhone camera at the time because these few photos from my camera aren't all that sharp.enhance

enhance

Looks like ferries taking people and their cars home.enhance

More than six years since we were there.  It feels like so long ago now.  From checking my confirmation for our Grand South America/Antarctica cruise it seems we will be visiting Santos again on Feb. 18, 2022.  Fingers crossed!

I have been to Santos twice.  The first was on the Crystal Serenity in March, 2017, and that time we quickly passed through Santos on the way to San Paulo.  Our first stop was Ipirango, originally designed as a palace but never used that way.  It is now a museum but was closed for renovation in 2017:

The palace gardens are likely much like the original design:

Lunch was served at a Churrascia steak house:

The main theater was modeled after the Paris Opera House:

In the city's major park there's a monument to Brazil's founders

I'll try to post on my visit to Santos itself from the Prinsendam this afternoon.

I hadn't planned on posting successive photos from the same cruise but I have only one for May 30.  It's from my  2013 Blount Cruise from New Orleans to Saint Petersburg.  On May 30 we arrived in St. Pete:

Good morning, all! A great set of days today. I plan to water the flowers later, we’re going for a walk with neighbours later, and I may do some printing this afternoon. Much truth to the quotes, especially the Hessel one! Chilliwack is known for its corn, and I’m too spoiled now to eat the imported corn in the supermarket. I’m looking forward to the day the local corn is ready! Roy cheated and mentioned Prime Rib and the Princendam in the same sentence. That’s kind of game, set, and match right there. We’ve been to quite a few ports in Brazil, but São Paulo isn’t one of them.

Thank you to all for the anniversary wishes yesterday. We went to Cora’s for lunch to celebrate. It opened fairly recently, and every time I’ve hoped to go indoor dining gets closed down again. We lucked out this time! It’s bright and airy with very high ceilings and excellent table distancing. We are both several weeks past our first shot, and felt very safe there.
Happy Sunday to all, with fond thoughts of brunch aboard a BHB!

Good morning all!

We're in for a long (PNW standards) stretch of dry weather, so I will be watering my flowers every day while I visit with my neighbors.  We're a close bunch and look out for each other, having known each other for 25+ years.  I'm very thankful to have them!  I'm not very creative, other than all the counted cross-stitch I love to do.  My latest project is another intricate one with directions that spread over 8 pages -- yesterday I spent more time "undoing" than anything else.  I can hide minor 1-2 stich mistakes, but this would have been more like 6-8. 😩

Happy birthday @baltic17and @kazu!!

👍Thank You to all who contribute especially to Rich @richwmn, Jacqui @kazu and Roy @rafinmd!!

🎂Best Wishes on your special day @baltic17 and @kazu

Today's port was not on our Nov. 2019🚢 Viking Sun itinerary but many other 🇧🇷Brazilian cities were and the piranha fishing on the Maica Lake was a first! 🎣

Road trip up to Oregon and wine tasting ( 💗Pinot Noir) in the Willamette Valley ( Salem) was a fun experience.🍷

Prayers to all in need!🙏

Good morning damers!  What a beautiful and balmy Sunday morning.  Lots of sun and blue skies are in store for the Pacific Northwest once again.  Boy do we pay for having southern exposure, when I went to bed last night it was 78 degrees in the house.  Another dreaded visit to Home Depot will need to be made soon for a portable AC unit.

The N. Amsterdam is "drifting off Mexico" today.  How about she start drifting in the direction of Seattle?

Creative?  I wasn't in the room when those talents were passed out.

Neighbors?  I'm pretty lucky now, but that's not always the case in a community of 150 townhouses.

Thanks to Rich and all the listers.  Prayers to all who need them.  Birthday wishes to @baltic17 many more!!!

@kazu I had to study the comic for quite awhile before I finally got it, I don't know if it's a guy thing, but I can never figure out pregnancy humor. There was a commercial a long time ago about a woman that was going into labor but "it was the pizza" the husband said at the end.  Meaning what?  Mom explained they were insinuating the woman had heartburn, so that's what I thought this was implying at first, and maybe it still is, like I said it must be a woman's thing or my reading too much into it.

On tap for today, some bookwork as we're about to begin a new month.  I have to catch up on some correspondence.  I need to get an Amazon order in.  And I hope to squeeze in some reading.  We have an invite for tomorrow afternoon and I've heard a couple different versions for the weather.  A possible marine layer or filtered sun with a lot of high clouds, so take your pick on that.  Neither of the them would be unusual for around here.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning from a dreary central Texas.  I'm glad I got all my work done yesterday, especially the mowing since it was a much better day.  Our rain chances are low today, but will increase tomorrow through at least the end of the week.

Not sure how creative I am, but I try.  Until all the spring rain stops, it looks like I won't be watering any plants.  In our small community, our neighbors look out for each other.

Like all the quotes, but George Jessel's is also my favorite.

We'll be having corn-on-the-cob tonight, but not grilled, along with our pulled pork, cooked in the smoker, and fruit salad.  Tomorrow, for Memorial Day, I think it will be hot dogs.

@baltic17  and @kazu  🥂  🌹  🎂  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  Hope you both have a wonderful day, and I agree, don't cook on your birthday.

@cunnorl  WOW!  40,000 on motorcycles!  In Arizona, Rolling Thunder has provided escorts for veterans funerals.  Enjoy watching and waving to them, but remember your earplugs.

We were on the Ruby Princess with @StLouisCruisers Sandi, in 2015.  I'll try not to duplicate pictures. We had wanted to to to Sao Paulo, but were advised that the timing was not good for getting back in time, and iIIRC, the ship did not offer tours to Sao Paulo.   Since that was a new port for us, we took a tour offered in the terminal, and enjoyed it.   We also saw the cathedral, but my pictures would be repeats of Sandi's.

Our first stop was a park and beach area in an upscale neighborhood, with a lot of free time. Part of that time we spent in their small, but nice aquarium.

Santos is the town and team where Pele got his start.  He played with the Santos team and the New York Cosmos.  We drove by the stadium where he played but could not get a good picture.  A picture of the Pele museum , which was interesting.
