Booking EZ-Air after making final payment for cruise.

So I am having difficulty adding EZ-Air to my cruise for next year 3/13/22 that has already been paid in full.  Princess had a promotion to pay off cruise last year receive 10% discount as well as $200 OBC for cabin.  I had used gift cards from previously Alaskan cruise which was cancelled, so went ahead and paid off the re-booked cruise.  However couldn't book airfare at that time due to their 330 day booking rule.  So fast forward to this year and want to try and book flexible airfare for this cruise and they are asking for my credit card information?  I have called in 2 times to ask for assistance and am told it is the only way to handle it, and then to call back 3 days later and ask them to remove the charge on cc and use my gift cards.  Somehow I don't feel comfortable with this whole process, regardless of using gift cards, why should I have to prepay for the airfare when it is cancellable until the end of December for this cruise.  Anyone have any experience with this recently or in the past?

Thanks in advance!

Keep calling. EZAir payment is not due until 45 days before the cruise.

I think it is due at the time of final payment and can be changed up to 45 days before departure. That, I believe, may be the problem. The OP has already made final payment and reports that the system will not accept EZ Air. Keep calling may be the only way out, but not a comfortable one.

That's what happens when you book an offer from the casino that involves a free cabin.  You pay everything upfront.  And if you decide to purchase air, you need to pay that right away too even if it's flexible.  It must be something about the final systems that require a payment for air when there's no fares left to be paid.

I encountered a similar problem as the OP (less the gift card switch).  Paid off our cruise 18 months early to take advantage of the same promotion OP refers to.  But when EZ air became available, I had to pay in full to make a reservation.  Found no work around.

But of note, even though paid and ticketed with seat assignments - it is still refundable up to the 45 day point.

Problem is not having to pay. The issue is that poster cannot use Princess gift cards to pay.
